What is extraordinary and dismaying is that they knew they were being filmed - but this didn't deter them in any way!

And another disturbing aspect is, well, at least it was filmed but in the days before smart phones, this stuff v simply would have been gotten away with - murder, basically. The cop narrative is, well, he threatened me so I took him out. A dead person's word against the State official.
The advent of camera phones has changed that - but only up to a point. Because they still get away with it! The cops' sacking was swift and gratifyingly so, but murder charges took days and often never at all.
So now you could argue you have the worst of both worlds. The world sees white racist cops murdering black men. The worlds sees them get away with it! The racist cops see and take notes.
It's comparable to the way the public can make Subject Access Requests to the local Council and other public bodies, where they disclose all the toxic guff they've written about you, but at the same time have rigged the Complaints process so you don't get anywhere with it.
Result? You see how you've been fitted up for once - but there's nothing you can do!

Another thing is: smart phones counter the official narrative of the State and this gives the State the heebie jeebies, because its authority is everything. Once that's exposed as nonsense, it's the thin end of the wedge.
But of course, smart phones are trackable so that's the flip side. Especially with the lockdown, they can use it to track you and suggest you've been next to an infected person, and shut you down that way.
So it's swings and roundabouts - though I readily admit that all this is a world beyond most people. You have to uncover just how corrupt things are before the State turns its gaze on you.
Once you see all this, well, you feel a tad sorry when Bond goes after Goldfinger - you feel sorry for the villain, he doesn't stand a chance! Bond gets supplied with everything to take on his foe - a gadget laden Aston Martin, a tracker device, the FBI assistance too - all GF does is cheat at golf a bit and do some smuggling! :D
Ironically, Mr White's claim that 'we have people everywhere' really does apply to State officials, who use 'shills' - confidence tricksters - to infiltrate Opposition groups, the Media and campaign groups - see the Met SpyCops scandal, and the infiltration of the IRA Republican movement too. :o
Re Adult Social Care - imo the so-called regulators, the CQC and NMC are staffed by 'shills' - not what they purport to be - though that's not quite the same as being State regulators they don't exactly need to 'infiltrate' the organisation.

I think it's worrying how journalists get arrested by the police or attacked by demonstrators during the riots/demonstrations in the US. It's not becoming of a democracy.

I found this thoughtful and very interesting interview on police and their relation to the community, reactions to demonstrations and the militarization of the police. Even though the interview is a few years old it's sadly highly relevant today.

So after the horrible killing of George Floyd, protests are happening worldwide, including Buffalo City.

During those demonstrations, 75 year old Martin Gugino was pushed by a policeofficer and fell.
The policeman tried to help, but was pulled back by another one and police moved on.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52952237

Firstly, the police tried to explain the incident with that Gugino tripped, the 2 policemen where suspended after the video came out.

Now we all can say - yes, there are some foul apples among the police sqad yadya yada.

Now have a look what happened after the 2 accused policemen left the court building:

    https://www.towleroad.com/2020/06/buffalo-police/

Dozens, hundreds of policemen in civil applauded them to show their support.
And many policemen may call sick tomorrow as a form of protest (blue flu).

What honorable policeofficer would act that way I ask?

“Our position is these officers were simply following orders from Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia to clear the square,” said Buffalo Police Benevolent Association President John Evans

The Nuremberg defense from the president of the Police union.

In addition all 57 members of the Buffalo Emergency Response Team resigned their positions on the Task Force, while remaining on the job. Evan claims they are all acting in solidarity with the two officers who were arrested for assault. However 2 officers say they quit because the PBA would not pay their legal bills should anything happen.

Also on film was the Buffalo police tackling a black protester who was just standing there with his arms raised while talking to the press.

This short video shows protesters doing just that, and not plundering, burning or throwing things. A man shouts to the police about overreacting and how they should protect the streets instead. The police react by ….. overreacting. They charge ahead and grab the man and pepperspray the people standing next to him.
A non-violent protester is arrested for using his freedom of speach. Deeply disturbing.

Trump now says the upcoming election will be the most corrupt in US history: https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/trump-expects-most-corrupt-election-us-history-2020-n1231989

After the 2016 election he claimed Hillary got two million votes in illegal ways. How much did he belive himself? Trump never submitted any evidence to the FBI or any other police organisation or the senate, he just tweeted about it and spoke about it in rallies.

I think it's a good sign Trump is claiming the 2020 elelction will be corrupt. It means he thinks he'll lose and now he's building the groundwork for the myth that the re-election was "stolen" from him.

But what aout the Democrats and the Russia probe, you may ask? Didn't they do the same?
No, they had evidence. All the US inteligence organisations the Mueller report all said Russia helped Trump win.

Leaders of state have different ways of handling Corona. President Bolsonaro in Brasil make Trump look like the perfect leader during the pandemic. Bolsonaro compares Corona to a light flu and likes to meet his supporters in crowds and hug them.
Now he has caught Corona himself. I would never wish death on a democratically elected leader, but I think it woold be good for both the country and Bolsonaro if he gets hospitalized.

The horrible part is that Trump also belives it's opitional to step down as a president if he loses the election. I'm sure Daniel Ortega, Recep Erdogan, Nicolas Maduro and Vladimir Putin all share Trump's view on elections

So, Donald Trump has now officially announced to remove 12000 US troops because Germany „is not paying enough to Nato.“

    There are 2 interesting aspects:
Large parts of this contingent will be moved to Belgium, which spend 1,21% of their budget while Germany is currently paying 1,42% of their budget for defense.
So the overall impression is that the plan is based on the fact that Trump totally hates Angela Merkel and that he need to mimic the strongman for the November Elections.

All that weakening of allies only benefits 2 world players: China and Russia

Another aspect is that some parts of the Conspiracy Theorists here see the US troops as occupation forces while the german Government is controlled by other countries.
That theory does not make much sense as an occupier will try to increase his troops instead of reducing them by 1/3.

I imagine that will hit the local economy somewhat? Stupid decision. Do you know what the feeling of locals is to US servicemen in Germany? Happy to have them? Or toleration? I've lived in the south east of the UK and northern Italy and the feeling in both areas was kind of whatever, they're here, it's probably mutually beneficial etc.

Oh, local businesses will suffer immensely of course and that‘s why locals who have the US Services next to them welcome them broadly. They are known to be well behaved and bring some international spirit to relatively rural areas.

Of course you also have the usual moaners and Conspiracists who see them as occupants but that is by far the minority.

Mark Esper said yesterday, that the withdrawal of troops ( some will not be moved within Europe) will strengthen the NATO alliance - how that is will remain his secret I guess.

I live very close to a US airbase in the east of England (a C-130 is quite literally flying over the garden as I write this.) According to the BBC, Trump's decision "will reduce the country's military presence in Germany by more than 25%." Sounds like a strategic error...

Speaking of Trump and NATO. His former national security adviser John Bolton wrote in his book that Trump threathened to pull the US out of NATO during the July 2018 summit because of how little money most NATO members spend on defense. That was the summit where Trump critizied NATO General Secretary in front of the press, something Putin and other enemies of the West must have applauded. Stoltenberg was asked by Norwegian press about Bolton's alligations and he replied: "Trump said he was unhappy, and we had an open and direct dicussion which wasn't easy". I think any NATO General Secretary worth his salt (and Stoltenberg was given a second period at the helm of NATO) would fervently deny any rumours that their most important member had threathened to leave if it wasn't true. But he didn't deny it.

Actually, the EU has pulled together to fight COVID.
Yes, right at the beginning, borders have been temporarily closed, but we had Covid patients here from France, Spain and Italy as an example. Last week‘s agreement of a recovery Budget shows that the European Solidarity is still alive.

And I am sure that everybody in Europe knows that we have to take parts of our defense into our own hands. We have 179 different weapon systems here, it‘s highest time that we come together and share responsibilities.
The EU states together spend a multiple of the russian military budget - so there is a lot of room for improvement.

I see this all as a positive side-effect of the Trump term that even the most ignorant egoists realized that we have to do more as a Union - particularly when it comes to defense.
