Well I think it is the best Bond film, in fact it’s my favourite film of all time.
    Yes. Considerably!

Well, they got it right. It's a great movie imo and it goes beyond just being a great Bond film.

Don't see how this is controversial at all. It's a lot of people's favorite Bond movie and even if it doesn't take the top spot it's up there. The only way I can see someone disliking CR is if they think Bond is about corny lines and tons of gadgets. If that's the case, stay away from the books and Fleming's original vision of the character.

I hold it in equal place with OHMSS, as my
Joint Favourite ( followed by LTK ) .....
...... obviously when not using a joint, it's
    Something else. ;)

OHMSS is my second favorite film and CR is number 1 so we have similar tastes. Don't know about that the joint business though, I prefer vodka martinis -{ :))

"Judging by this poll there's no clear evidence to suggest who is the world's favourite man to take up a licence to kill, as Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton, like Craig, have two in the top 10, whereas Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery and George Lazenby each have one.
The top 10 of the list is as follows:

Casino Royale Skyfall Goldfinger The Living Daylights From Russia With Love On Her Majesty's Secret Service GoldenEye The Spy Who Loved Me Licence To Kill For Your Eyes Only"

(The author counted wrong. Sean also has 2 in the top 10)

    Great to see each Bond actor in the top 10...just shows how consistently great 007 is. Also, especially pleased to see Sir Rog with 2 in the top 10 as well. -{
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

I would have liked it at #1, but CR 06 is deservingly at the top. Some might not like the parkour scene, but I thought it was a crazy good time.

    Best,

Surely if two films of a particular actor's are numbers one and two in a poll that is clear evidence that they are the World's favourite Bond

Replace LTK with TND in the list I'd say a pretty fair reflection of my top ten

It's a good list, bar Skyfall and The Living Daylights.
I agree the CR06 is a great movie and I consider it to be one of the very best, as a Bond movie. The fact of the matter is that I consider it not only a good Bond movie but a good movie-movie, even if those two worlds can never clash as Bond is a brilliant franchise but CR06 for me has what it takes to be just a little above...and beyond other Bond movies and escape into the world of actual movies.

Hope what I wrote made sense.
    a reasonable rate of return

I clicked on the extra link within the link, and the top 10 was not the same as stated, I guess it's an ongoing ranking thing that will always change.

    Die Another Day was bottom.
    1 - LALD, 2 - AVTAK, 3 - LTK, 4 - OP, 5 - NTTD, 6 - FYEO, 7 - SF, 8 - DN, 9 - DAF, 10 - TSWLM, 11 - OHMSS, 12 - TMWTGG, 13 - GE, 14 - MR, 15 - TLD, 16 - YOLT, 17 - GF, 18 - DAD, 19 - TWINE, 20 - SP, 21 - TND, 22 - FRWL, 23 - TB, 24 - CR, 25 - QOS

It's a very good list, covering many bases and including the fan favourites (TLD, OHMSS, LTK).

SF I can understand why it's there based on non-fan love for it - but meh...
    1. TWINE 2. FYEO 3. MR 4. TLD 5. TSWLM 6. OHMSS 7. DN 8. OP 9. AVTAK 10. TMWTGG 11. QoS 12. GE 13. CR 14. TB 15. FRWL 16. TND 17. LTK 18. GF 19. SF 20. LaLD 21. YOLT 22. NTTD 23. DAD 24. DAF. 25. SP

Good point. Now QoS is on the bottom. Maybe the list fluctuates daily? The poll should have been closed before the author published his findings. Where is SPECTRE???

Also note there are only 905 votes from 129 voters in this poll. Compare this to another list from the same website that has over 30,000 votes. Not surprisingly Goldfinger is #1

^ compare this to our own ranking thread (https://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/48909/ultimate-members-rankings-spectre-to-2017/) and you've actually got the entire top 10 - just not in the same order:

    Casino Royale (6th eq)

    Here's a summary by actor/film average ranking.

I've excluded the 1954 CR and NSNA films as I will never consider these Bond films and adjusted - wasn't difficult 8-) .

    SC - (7.50 per film) 1,2,6,7,13,16
    GL - (10.00) 10
    TD - (13.00) 12, 14
    RM - (13.85) 5,9,11,15,17,19,21
    DC - (14.00) 3,8,22,23,
    PB - (16.50) 4, 18, 20, 24

Forgive the conceit, but I think ranking about anything Bond is most valid among pools of people who live and breathe Bond, like people on this board.

But for more general polls, it all depends on who and what makes up the voting pool, which likely does not account for generational trends and preferences when it comes to Bond fandom. I think it is so stupid when conventional thought boils down to “this is better because the world thinks so!” The paradox of being a Bond fan is that the continuance of the EON franchise is so dependent on the worldwide movie market and people wanting to watch a super spy drive an Aston Martin actually make up the market for AMC Hornets and Ford Mondeos.

I have no idea what Lad Bible is. The very name suggests a target demographic, and I'm probably not part of it
the poll results tell us more about the demographic that reads something called Lad Bible than anything objective about the subject of the poll.
Remember when imdb almost instantaneously ranked The Dark Knight as the best movie ever!! made in the whole entire history of moviemaking? the morning the film was released? because it appealed to a certain demographic: basement dwellers who manipulate online poll results for fun, because its good codewriting exercise. Casablanca (for example) is not suddenly a lesser film just because the small demographic that participates in such voting appreciates the violent new Batman movie more

I might say Casino Royale is objectively a very good film in and of itself. But they changed so many elements of the Bondfilm formula with that reboot I can't say it is a good Bondfilm, if that makes sense. It doesn't do many of the things i want a Bondfilm to do. It is about as removed from the series up til that point as the Barry Nelson and David Niven versions were.
I hold it in equal place with OHMSS, as my Joint Favourite ( followed by LTK ) .....
...... obviously when not using a joint, it's Something else.
I would think that a Joint Favourite Bondfilm would be one of the ones where there was an uncomplicated plot, lots of jokes to giggle at, bright colours and near constant jiggly cleavage, e.g. mid70s Moore

I'd say it was a pretty solid list. I have no problem with the top 4, or in fact the top 10. I'd probably bend off One of the Dalton's for Thunderball. It is actually bloody hard to make a top 10 list of Bond films. For me, there's about 14 films that are all top 10 worthy. And we all have our favourites but I think it's fair to say that Casino, Skyfall, From Russia and Goldfinger are probably the best made films of the series. Not to say they should be ranked 1-5 but I can see why they're in those spots on this particular list -{ Having said all that, I always found Daylights slightly overrated.

Also, it would appear that For Your Eyes Only is starting to garner a bit more acclaim outside of the Bond fan community, which is excellent :)
