    Wow!

They still advertise that their dress was the one in Spectre. If what Jany says is true then why has this deception by Ghost been allowed to carry on for over a year?

I am really confused...their dress is IDENTICAL. I would be shocked if they mislead in a obvious manner.

But the ghost dress pre-dates Spectre, correct?

Could Jany be misremembering again? Could the dress have been altered (beyond just for fit) by the costume department?

But she said that they custom made it. Unless she drew inspiration from her subconscious and made an identical dress, it can't be marketed as the SPECTRE dress.

Well that's interesting. My wife's friend has picked it in white for her wedding dress, and my wife was excitedly pointing out its Spectre connection to me.

Not sure if the Bond connection has anything to do with her friends choice lol

So they just made an exact copy of the Ghost dress? If so it wouldn't surprise me since a lot of the Spectre wardrobe was just near identical copies of other brands work. Like Matchless copying the John Varvatos and Tom Ford copying the Moncler.

Indeed, getting a bit shady in my opinion lol

I think it’s highly likely that like so many Costume designer have the items made by other companies it’s highly likely I think this is a mistake. If a costumer designer just simply bought everything from shops or online it makes the job less skilled. It’s the same with the old Belstaff they maybe made the jackets for films which were then modified by costume departments where costumer designers still say they made the jacket

The detail about this dress that Jany has given really suggests this isn’t a mistake like the Varvatos mix up, but that leaves a conundrum. At what point do we differentiate between designing and coping?

Either Jany ripped off ghost, or ghost ripped off Jany, but timings would suggest the former and it’s highly unlikely that both designed the same garment independently! It would also explain why Ghost believe the garment was theirs and purchased off the shelf, as if they saw rushes of the film and ripped off the dress, they would know they are are treading on thin ice!

Since QoS there has been a quite a few items that appear to have been copied from other fashion houses but claimed to have been designed for the movie and we seem to accept that. Interestingly I believe I have seen some open criticism of some of our homage brands (Magnoli and Royale) as they are ‘copying’ TF etc., but is Jany any better?

Has anyone reached out to Ghost to hear what they have to say regarding the Salma dress?

I would look at it another way - if it was created and designed by costume Dept, then the only way anyone was going to get anything close to the real deal was for someone to make it commercially or privately (like Indy and Royale).

Companies often manipulate the truth as I found with Omega but ultimately it’s the only way you were going to get something close to reality unless you had it custom made.

Just my take but I get why it rattles some who may feel duped, I know I did and it grated on me for years.

    Cheers :007)
