It appears I was ‘fortunate’ to get a pair of boots that are great.
I’ve bought a couple of standard made/fit shoes from Jermyn Street C&J stores.
Their service has always been exemplary and the product top notch - hence my willingness to get in on this buy (Thank you Simon).
I’m genuinely disappointed for those of you who have received a sub-par product/experience. I really thought C&J would sort this out for you and make another pair that were of an acceptable quality. They must have made enough profit off the group buy to do this again?
The negative publicity alone should be enough to make a premium brand do the right thing.
Teachable moment is an understatement. This is my first pair of C&J footwear, and I'm honestly not all that inclined to go with another pair simply based on the quality control issues that I'm seeing. My pair turned out fine except for the height difference, and that difference makes me question the quality. I know this: if I'm shopping for shoes and see C&J shoes on display, I'm gonna go over them with a fine toothed comb before buying any, and that's not a good reputation to have. It honestly feels like they've lost some potential customers over this.
Indeed, I think I'll ping Lauren and send her the photos of my shoes as well to let her know about the quality control on mine.
Teachable moment is definitely a nice way of putting it ) This was also my first purchase from Crockett & Jones and more than likely it will be my last based on the QC issues and the lack of effort to rectify the error. It's quite easy for me to avoid Crockett & Jones as the closest boutique is in NYC and the nearest stockist is either in Ohio or Ontario, Canada. I agree this is not a good reputation for Crockett & Jones to have but even if i had a good experience i would still go over my shoes with a fine tooth comb especially for that price. I wonder if they even care that they may have lost us as future customers?
Yes they did offer us a few options but it would have been better if they made us new boots! They could have let us do our return and then because of the inconvenience gave us 10% off of a future purchase. I do understand that a business has to mitigate costs but from a customer service/quality control standpoint the cost of them remaking our boots is not my concern. They make other boots in Rough Out Suede so its just a matter of getting them back in for an expedited production which would take a little time but is doable. I'm not sure if i would say they're acting in good faith because if they were the QC department would have noticed the flaw and realized that a customer would not accept such an issue.
Now once i receive my refund and my jets have cooled off i might consider buying something from Crockett & Jones.
I also want to be 100% clear on this: I'm very thankful and grateful for the work that went into putting this special order together. Simon, please don't look at any of this griping about the actual finished product as any sort of poor reflection on you. This is all on C&J.
I’ve been wearing mine everyday since they arrived, couldn’t be happier with them. Even had a couple of compliments.
I know some of you have had a few grumbles and I sympathise. C&J appear to have been proactive in trying to resolve these matters and seem to have offered fair resolutions.
Could I just say that we should be mindful that a public flogging of the company could put giant huddles in the way of future group projects.
Imagine if C&J make a custom shoe or boot for the next movie and they wouldn’t entertain the idea of a group run.

Many of us would be devastated.
I am glad to hear that your boots arrived without any errors and that you are enjoying them!
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on Crockett & Jones being proactive because if they were their QC team would have picked up on the glaring error and made us new boots! As far as i can tell the company will not even entertain the idea of making the affected members new boots as they are not part of the normal production run. So the only option is to ship them back and get a refund but i'd prefer to have the boots as they are very nice. It's sad because i wanted to 2 other pairs of boots but will not because of this experience
Now could i make a public comment on Instagram or Twitter? Sure i could but i have chosen not to go public with my grievances and that's only because i respect the relationship Simon has cultivated with Crockett & Jones and i don't want to jeopardize any future projects he may want to do in the future. I have instead decided to work directly with Crockett & Jones to make sure this sort of issue doesn't happen to any other customer.
Makes me wonder is Craig's "new" Molton's were actually from filming, like he did with other boots. I'm not sure when this picture was taken in relation to filming though.
As with the Brown and Black Suede Molton's I'm putting together a limited run of these boots, C&J now requite a minimum of 12 and Im thinking not to exceed 19 so there will be only 20 pairs of these in the world including DC's.
The cost will be £400, minus VAT for those outside the UK will be £333.35, postage will vary depending on location, I know USA will be about £30.
We have 6 spots filled up so if you would like a pair of these please let me know:

I agree 100%!
Very nice pair of boots to add to my other 8 or 9 pairs!!
Glad to hear that your boots arrived safely and there were no issues. Were you involved in the other 2 runs as well?
That's what i thought

No these particular boots were made for him and that was prior to filming NTTD.
