Brosnan and Craig Omega Rumors

I know this is all speculation but recently I came across a mention that an Omega DeVille was featured on the brand's website under James Bond's watches at a time before Casino Royale leading some to hint that this would be Bond's next watch.

If we take the film as it is I really don't see where this watch would fit except for in place of the Seamaster 300. Furthermore I personally don't think Craig pulls of leather straps like this very well. Granted we only got a glimpse of his vintage Omega in Spectre but we really didn't see it "on" him. I've seen other photos of Craig sporting his various watches and I think a bracelet wears much better much better on him, or even the NATOs or the PO rubber strap.

I know this has been around for ages and I do like the thought on Brosnan being a "one watch Bond" but this along with the fondness that has grown on me for the Aqua Terra can't help but make me think "What if?"

During Brosnan's tenure both he (Brosnan himself) and James Bond were brand ambassadors. So you had the watches that he advertised as James Bond and the watches he advertised as Pierce Brosnan. The second picture appears to fall in the latter category.

I would like to see Bond wear a dressier watch but I think Omega makes a conscious choice in giving Bond one of their basic models to boost sales. Let’s face it, there are more people, and I think more than 3 times as many people, that buy a € 5000,- watch compared to a €15000,- watch when there is a Bond connection. So a watch like the Tresor is out of the question while I think it would be a great watch for Bond.

They should have left the SMP as ‘Brosnan’s Bond watch’ and picked another watch for Craig in CR. A Deville would have been a great choice, the 2500 AT would have been nice too.

I think Craig wearing the Seamaster 300 in Casino Royale was more of a nod to the past. To me the Planet Ocean is a more appropriate watch for Craig's version of Bond as he was less refined than Brosnan was during his tenure. The Tresor would be nice choice BUT it would need to be in stainless steel, drop the date and make the case a little smaller say 39mm.

I like Craig in a Planet Ocean *a lot*. I think it's the best fit for his iteration of the character. A functional tool that's durable under pressure. The Deville is a dress watch and I'm not sure it matches the blunt instrument side of Craig. That said, the DeVille is probably my favorite of Omega's dress watches. The Aqua Terra doesn't really work for my taste.

DC himself in an interview said along the lines of the CR Seamaster being Brosnans watch so I guess he was not keen wearing it

I quite liked the transition from one to the other during CR - feels like the PO is the current Bond watch, no doubt that will change in time, and perhaps with Craig's successor. Agree that the PO does fit with his character portrayal well. (And is my favourite too :) )
My name has changed! I’m no longer dufus......now I’m DB6
