Well that’s around 50 jackets and the thread’s only been up a couple of days - an excellent start gentlemen - I hope the Adidas/Y-3 decision makers see the interest -{
Any way of gauging from them how many would be needed for the project to happen?
If we could get Adidas/Y-3 to confirm that they will do the project and how many jackets are needed for the project we could definitely get more people involved!
I received a lot of messages specially on my Ebay and my mail. I can't talk for Y-3 , I'm waiting like everybody.
As soon as I have more news I will post a message here.
We have to be patient. The reissue of the jacket is not a priority for them and I understand.

I completely understand where you are coming from especially after seeing how long the Tom Ford Harrington project took to get moving. My response was more so in regards to a prior post about getting more people involved and hopefully if we get the go ahead the list of interested parties will go up. If possible could we have this thread added as a Sticky at the top of the page?
Not to be a negative Nancy, but I'm not holding my breath on this one. Companies like this often are misleading by their seemingly receptive initial response, but when push comes to shove, make no mistake, all that matters is the bottom line which is revenue. 150 jackets at the price point of $450 is very small fish for a company like Y-3 when they charge close to the same price for a pair of running sneakers like the yohji boost that they sell in the thousands per seasonal release.
So if this does happen, that means somebody, somewhere pulled some major strings.
With my marketing experience limited as it is they could go for a major reissue as the 10th Anniversay QOS edition they would fly off the shelves - but alas branding links are lost on some!
Cheers :007)
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!

I don't think anyone here thought this project would be easy or quick but i will continue to remain hopeful that we can move forward. Also I can't see a company turning down near $68000 in sales when they didn't have to do anything but I've also seen companies do all sorts of dumb things 8-)
I think the success in doing these projects with Tom Ford has been built primarily on individual relationships of members here with people at TF. I also think the relationship between the Bond franchise and Tom Ford (including the decision to go with TF when it was an upstart brand) plays some less tangible role. It’s a niche brand and people who will pay $500 for an SA polo shirt will probably buy other items as well. You don’t really get that advantage when dealing with a multinational like Adidas, but it’s still worth a try.

I'm sorry Bond44, but that would make too much sense. :007)

You never know how a brand will react.
Billy Reid has jumped on the Bond bandwagon. Their Bond Peacoat is a perennial item. N. Peal likewise is keeping their Bond related items in stock. Both brands are using the increased visibility for their advantage.
John Varvatos re-released the suede racer jacket but completely missed the opportunity to capitalize on the Split Seam jacket which appeared in The Martian and was copied by Matchless for the Spectre Craig Blouson.
J. Crew completely missed the boat with the Kenton boots (and perhaps to a lesser extent with the Abingdon weekender bag). But J. Crew has made a number of bone-headed moves with both products and marketing over the last 5 or so years. You have to wonder if the company will exist in another 5 years.
I think it's less about making a few tens of thousands of dollars on a project than it it recognizing the possibility of expanding a brand to thousands of potential new customers. Worst case scenario the company has still made a small profit on the project.
