Quantum Kazan TF Greatcoat

Hello all,

I’m new here and this is my first post. That’s not to say I’ve been a bad boy and not completed my research during my lurks here before posting! :)

I’m after the Quantum coat (in July no less) and I was never rich enough to buy the original, but the two options I’ve seen are the Magnoli and the Baron Boutique versions, but I understand each has their issues, for example the Baron coat is not herringbone weave.

I know the Magnoli version has an issue with the collar or something and you need to issue instructions to get a coat as close to the original. What precise instructions need to be given?

Can those of you who have taken the plunge give me an idea which is the best option to plump for?

Many thanks indeed.

I bought the Gucci version (TF era), which is very similar to the Quantum model.

Welcome Blaydon. -{ I've always wondered that too, I'd love a version without the TF price tag, and never sure which to go for.

As an edit, I just checked and can't see it for sale on Bb's website... :#

Thanks for the welcome. The coat can be seen on the old B.B. website. The link is on the new site.

    Hi Blaydon,

    Welcome to ajb.

So I do have the original TF greatcoat, and happy to provide details on the coat.

The coat is a black herringbone fabric, and is 100% wool. The coat is half lined similar to the TF Harrington jacket. The coat has a neck clasp attached to one side of the coat. In terms of the back there is a pleating effect from the top to bottom of the coat with the back half belt. Not forgetting it has a single back vent. Please see the pics below:

In terms of getting your hands on the real thing, up until a few years ago the coat design was part of the made to measure design, although it missed a few details. Last year TF introduced a black herringbone wool/cashmere fabric, which was a little lighter weight than the original fabric, however it was a range T (very very expensive almost £5k+). However I am still awaiting to hear if there is a slightly cheaper (in TF terms) 100% wool fabric.

It is a fantastic coat and great winter staple.

    Hope this assists.

Thanks so much for the pics and the welcome, 006. This is a great help. I can certainly forward to whichever maker I choose to go with.

    Thanks again!
