The box is a bit older, end of XIX or so, but I know old boxes like this are very common in UK, because I got it on ebay UK.
Boxes like that are probably also common in old uk colonies, and the design is very simple, so it would be possible a similar box to be made in the 70's, for the garnishment I tried to designed something more modern than what was made in the XIX, for. more 70's look.
I am drawing the colibri prototype version for these pen and lighter, just a secondary lighter and box to print and dummy cufflink, I designed to avoid original lighter and pen damages, it will be funny once finished, quite easier than even the gimmick version I put on shapeways.
Really liking your progress on this, parfaitelumiere. Your 3D renders look great, and the display case is a very nice touch. Can I ask which 3D program you're using? I use Maya myself. Looking forward to seeing more WIP pics.
Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.
Bad points
-I know I won't be able to print it from fine detail plastic because of bending issues during printing process, shame, because it's acrylic, taking good finish and polish, even the threads are working, I will try to find a way to get printed from acrylic if issues can be solved, if not, I will have to choose professionnal plastic, still good detail level.
It seems the issue is not popping with professionnal plastic and metal cast.
-lots of design issues to solve, mainly mechanical issues, for spring loaded areas, threads
-I will change the pen assembly completely for a closer to real movie prop assembly meaning probably shortening the pen, like original prop, or maybe making 2 different body ends, for a prop lenght and a waterman lenght.
I will have to fix the gap issues, adding gap here and there so if someone purchases it, no need to sand down, I ordered the prototype with various gap, from none to 0,2mm gap to see the best option, best is 0,1mm
-I will have to order various parts, but from different materials to check if a plastic core can fit inside a waterman pen body or not, like it would fit in similar body from plastic, if it doesn't it will mean designing a complete set for brass or plastic version.
What is good
-the design is not so bad, measurments seem ok, the assembly is working even not perfectly yet, I am not so far.
-the design will be even better once I will have corrected all issues.
if someone is interested as a candidate, I can offer him to buy a trial version.
I will complete some design improvements, and offer to buy it for rough printing price and shipping to me for checking and assembly.
It would permit me to put it as available on i materialize website, without purchasing it, because my final idea is a much complicated version from silver and ( I hope) titanium.
The gold plated brass version will be expensive, the parts available on shapeways gan give idea of price, but I think i materialize will be more interesting regarding price for cast metal.
Tinkercad has many defects, but still a free and easy online cad.
Here is the new pen, same as movie assembly.
The nib block is removable and cap stays in place when nib is off.
Just a hole to add and provide the tip to use some scale model brass tubing to make the cartridge needle, then it will be possible to add a genuine ink cartridge, if diameter is small enough, still to check this...
for painted versions, as it will need to be saned down, I didn't add extra gap.
I admit I designed more for a realistic brass version than budget version...
I am looking for this specific picture, for now I found two different versions but it seems the original picture is a bit larger, with buttons, and complete visible golden gun, the best would be it would be available on promoton shot from 1974, but I never found it for now.
if you plan to make it from resin, you can order mine on shapeways.
If you want to order, don't do it right now, the prototype you see has many issues, technical, and material.
The pen has been updated but not the box or lighter.
I will replace the plastic printing options and put it from professionnal plastic, I may also think about a versatile plastic version for lowest budget version.
The top grade version will be gold plated brass and black professionnal plastic (pen-lighter core barrels, with barrel rifle finish), this way, no legal issue, as the barrels are plastic.
The cufflinks on video are not those from shapeways, what you see in the vid is not possible to make by printing, too fine details, and lots of hand finish for a proper work.
If someone wants some, I have 9 remaining partial kits, have to order other parts, find the springs and make them.
one pair is for me, and other for a friend (simple version for him, double fx version for me) it means 7 pairs can still be available.
Price is high I think 180 euros, if you are not in a hurry I will include gold plating in the price, I have to get quite some stuff to bring for gold plating, to avoid expensive cost per item.
Thank you for the offer mate - I appreciate that, and the information you've given. I like the challenge of making the props - however, not everyone is able to, and I'm sure there will be many lining up for one of your AMAZING builds once the project is finished. -{
Cheers,
Andrew

For those who are interested, and EU located, I think it may be interesting to see with US located members for ordering.
I made a test yesterday with texas007 , for the complete lighter, gold plated brass version, US price is 150$ lower than EU price, mainly because EU add processing cost, VAT and shipping is higher.
Texas007 accepted to be the one to purchase the trial version, he ordered a complete gun, and it will be shipped to me.
Depending on shipping issues or raised prices if shipping to EU, I suggested to ship to him first (5$ shipping cost from shapeways) and then he ships to me.

The box is a pretty cool idea and probably of it's time, well done. The Pen and Cufflinks look well also {[]

When all your design issues are solved I will most probably buy a metal version.

A good tip: keep a buffer if you make a version to be painted. (Primer + Base-coat + Paint) can easily take 0.05 or even more... {[]

For now I found this, a way to buy a vincenzo di ruggiero shirt, it makes a while since I wanted to buy one.
and this vintage silk knit tie, 55mm wide tie, not sure it will be wide enough, so I have seen another tie a bit wider, just in case.
FOr the suit, I will use a existing dark grey suit I have, byt I would try to get, or make the white suit.
