    The FYEO miniature is most tempting. Anyone going for it? Think it will exceed the minimum?

    Keep in mind that price is before the buyers premium and VAT so you're looking at over $10,000 for those glasses which is just insane!

    I bid £4.5k on those which worked out at just over £6k including fees. They originally cost £2k at an EON endorsed charity auction a number of years ago ...Bugger!

    Gyrojet Rifle £2000

    Although this matches MBA carbines, I don't actually recall this style appearing in YOLT.
    Still, it is a stunt version and the most likely source is that film.

    I just don't get how they keep hitting these prices in the PS auction.

    I approached PS with a set and they said they're overwhelmed with them as a result of the prices they annually fetch in this sale.

    The only stunt MBA carbines which appeared on screen were the two you see firing together which were SFX props. All the other weapons utilised at Pinewood were pretty much Sterling L2A3 smg's and Webley MK 1V service revolvers. The only time actual MBA Gyrojets appeared on screen was the tabled examples at the Ninja training school! which is why anyone selling one uses the tabled examples screen grab! -{

    I was watching the James Bond part of the auction and I was really surprised...
    While I thought some of the lots would go away for considerably more money (i.e. DAD-shirt or Roger‘s sunglasses), I just could not believe what some people are willing to pay for plastic chips.

    Where is the difference ?:)

    One of the issues with the DAD shirt, I think, is that anyone familiar with the item wasn't going to drastically exceed what to sold almost exactly a year ago.

    As for the the CR plaques, I can only imagine that's a function of auction publicity as well as thinking "hmmm, sold for X last year, should expect to spend the same this year." If collectors knew what was going on off-platform they wouldn't be bidding that.

    There is actually an earlier shot of a single carbine being fired.

    YOLT-01_46_56.jpg

    None of these seems to be a screen match to the stunt carbine which Prop Store sold through their site awhile back (debated buying and by the time I decided "yes" it sold).

    YOLT-carbine_prop_store_-_LO_RES.jpg

    Clearly the stunt carbine in the auction wasn't the same as these but this second style does appear on the table you mention though only actual rifles -- not stunt versions -- so I assume the auction listing is in the racks at the back or something.

    BTW, while I'm not 100% sure what he's carrying when he arrives at the crater, at the bottom of his descent into the volcano, Tanaka is brandishing a GyroJet pistol ... until it's kicked out of his hand two seconds later.

    Speaking of these auctions again, I have question: I wonder how PropStore or any other auction house manages to get hold of these rare things. I always thought EON was keeping the screen-used items locked away in their archives until the end of time. ?:)

    Both images are of Tanaka brandishing an MBA MK1 Model B 13mm Gyrojet pistol. This one to be precise which is currently archived by the Bond production company -{

    A good question. Start with this--people didn't realize on the early films that props would be valued, and many props on all films were used and reused for multiple films--many still are.

    Some props over the years (okay, a lot of props) have been gifted to cast, crew and visitors to the set, others were smuggled off the set illegally.

    Do you or does anybody know the story behind some if the items PropStore sold last week?

    I was wondering the very same, just watched DZ and his CR Armani jacket VLOG which was screen used. How did that get from screen to collector? Obviously EON have their regular auctions to keep the collection trim but those go for extortionate pricing for good causes.

    But I often find myself wondering how propstore and collectors come about these screen used pieces clothing, accessories, props and even parts of sets etc. Could be kinda interested MG to know the journey some of these items take :D

    Cheers :007)

    Yes, let‘s look at the AVTAK-sunnies: I wonder where they have been the last 30 years and were they were offered (to PropStore). Knowing the Bond-community, I‘m sure someone would have known about that...

    I believe Meesta Baawnd aquired a screen used TF QOS Harrington by chance of eBay, when he saw it, snapped it up as SA but found the Daniel Craig logo inside! I might be mistaken on details (or maybe completely wrong), but my tired memory says wasn’t via EON direct. I assume crew might be gifted some props (I imagine nicking stuff would be near impossible), and they might on sell as well
  • Westward_DriftWestward_Drift Posts: 3,113MI6 Agent
    Right, the Harrington was off eBay. I think DZ's jacket was from a charity auction.
