I think David McKenzie and Yann Demange are still available. Either one works for me. The big question is really the script. Do they go back to the P&W script? Before the Hodge/Boyle script EON was apparently ready to move forward with P&W's script. If they can get Demange on board (who is also a writer) maybe he can do a quick polish, inject a few of his own ideas, re-write a few things and Bond 25 can proceed as scheduled. For EON to give Boyle the bounce, things must have gone a bit far off the rails.
Credit to Someone....they did say that Boyle would not direct Bond 25 )
Frankly I did not see this coming at all. I can also say I'm disapointed. SF and SPECTRE had much I enjoy, but sometimes the action didn't have the urgency and energy they needed. The Rome car chase in SP is the obvious example. Danny Boyle's movies are different from eachother in some ways, but they all had that energy.
If Mendes is busty with his WWI movie I guess they'll ask one of they have considered earlier in the process.
I’m hoping Martin Campbell comes in. What a wonderful job he did with Casino Royale and Goldeneye was very good as well.
+1 I thought he did a great job with the CR reboot. He knows the character, the team and could be good to see DC out after all these years in his finale.
DB probably wanted to kill him off or it was all just a dream just like Dallas
Cheers :007)
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!
Sam Mendes - three in a row? I wonder what the odds are of his return. Perhaps he can delay his other projects and parachute into Bond 25. I'd rather see a new director but Mendes would be a safe decision.
I believe this is another first for the Bond franchise. Don't recall a director publicly quitting this close to announcing the beginning of a production, which I assume would have been later this year.
Oh dear. How embarrassing for EON. Delayed production anyone?
This is all becoming an object lesson in how not to manage a multi-million dollar franchise. Thanks BB and MGW. Just as well the fans are really patient.
But according to you, Someone, Boyle was never directing Bond 25! :007)
It does make you wonder whether they have someone in the wings. The logical candidate would be Mendes, I'm afraid.
Eh, my hypothesis is somewhat torpedoed...
This does suggest that what we have been watching has been the proverbial cluster and not something well organised.
I imagine now that Harris, Fiennes and Whishaw have said nothing because they know nothing because it has been mismanaged that badly.
What an utter disaster.
I refer the honourable gentlemen to my earlier comments about B25 being Quantum of Solace all over again.
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions on this one. Apparently the Hodge/Boyle script appealed to EON, et al. We don't know what kind of crazy Boyle tried to push on EON subsequently. Why do people continue to paint this picture of EON being a bunch of fools who can't get out of their own way. They are the stewards of the most successful movie franchise in history. I know that Cubby and Harry
were the architects of the franchise but the children have carried on very successfully.
Here's an interesting list of films which turned out to be very successful despite the director being replaced:
Spartacus, Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind, Apocolypse Now, Toy Story 2, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Superman 2.

Mendes/Purvis?Wade again? Ugh
It's not as bad as a director being fired in the middle of production. Look at the PR disaster that Solo was! Still, it turned out to be a good film.
They wrote Casino. They didn't write Quantum. They were asked to salvage Spectre, it made $880 million.
And Sony probably made about $50 million profit after costs, according to sources. Not much for a reported production/P&A total cost of almost $350 million. Studio gets 50% of worldwide rentals. $400 million. (25% of gross rentals in China) Bingo. $50 million profit. I'm sure they were thrilled with that. Not.
There are some fantastic writers in the business who could write a far better script than P/W. Everyone who loves this franchise welcomes fresh ideas. On Casino Royale P/W had the blessing of fabulous 60 year old source material.

New writers + new director. Please.
Sony had a bad deal. That's not a reflection on the success of the film. However, financial success doesn't mean something is good. The good thing about Purvis and Wade is that they know the Fleming stories and the character.
Yann Demage only has a TV episode to do after White Boy Rick is released on the 14th of September.
I hope Demage or Mackenzie gets the job and they keep the Hodges script.
Boyle had expressed doubt over directing a Bond film:
26 March 2013
Having directed Daniel Craig - and HM the Queen - for the opening ceremony's Happy and Glorious segment, is he tempted to throw his hat in the ring? It is a question that prompts a well-practiced response.
"I wouldn't be disinclined, but I'm not really the right guy to make those kind of films," says a director whose sole link to date with so-called 'franchise' cinema was a brief flirtation with the Alien series.
"I like working slightly under the radar, rather than the responsibility of having to deliver to a certain expectation."
But have the Bond team been in touch? With a chuckle, Boyle nimbly deflects the question by repeating that he "wouldn't be the right kind of person to do those kind of films".
Because there is a release date officially on the books (and it’s next year), I expect we’ll have some clarity sooner rather than later regarding a delay. There are shareholders and things of that nature in play so that can’t really drag it out for months on end.
Danny Boyle has a talent and reputation for some really original stuff, my own hunch is he was ‘going too far’ .
Nail on head. And then some. There’s a point when Bond isn’t Bond anymore. It’s a blurry line, but there is a line. He isn’t a secondary character in his own film, and he isn’t a soapbox to air political and sexual opinions for the sake of virtue signalling.
I hope it doesn't get delayed until 2020. A five year wait would be ridiculous. Not to mention embarrassing for EON considering they already made a press release confirming the 2019 release date.

Well, looks like he wasn't the right person! 8-)
That's harsh. You do realize that other actors have played James Bond?
. Risico.
Gun In My Hand
Never Dream of Dying
Do you mean you prefer another director?
Or do you mean you know something about the Hodge script that would have everyone frothing at the mouth?
I would assume soon, unless they announce a further delay and we don't get a film until 2020.
Well, there have been many comments good and bad about Mendes, but that's a first!
Once again, Autocorrect can proudly take responsibility for that one )
