Royale (Mr. White) Altaussee

I'm thinking of trying to source the above jacket in US (due to shipping expense from outside USA). Anyone who owns this please help educate me with any comments (pros/cons?, owner impressionsj of wearing in the real world, wearability, warnth, comfort, laundering issues, sizing issues, overall impressions, etc.). I love Daniel's Royale products but I am on the fence on this one. I felt the same about the Solden, but picked one up a couple of weeks ago and love it. So...this got me thinking of revisiting my initial thoughts on the Altaussee.

Version 2 prob XL or XXL
Version 3 prob XXL

Please PM with pics, condition, price, etc. if you would like to potentially sell one.

Thank you for your time.

Ok my friends. I'm sure that some of you fine and distinguished gentlemen have some thoughts on the piece. Again, I'm on the fence on this one so ANY personal thoughts are greatly appreciated. If you would rather send PM, please feel free to do so.

    Thank you in advance.

I’ve got version 1 and I’ve worn it a lot in the Midwest for two years( this is my second year.)
It’s a great jacket I typically can squeeze into medium but buy large in clothing for comfort.
I got an xl and it’s fitted but I can layer underneath which I like. If I’d gotten a large it would have been tight. The sleeves are just slightly long if you nitpick but I’ve been fine with them.

I’m 42 inch chest 36 inch waist or so, I like to wear it with the Sölden type jacket I have from Barbour. I also kept the fur collar on as I like the look and the feel when you flip it up.

Ok now the bad. The first day I wore it I was putting my gloves in the pockets behind the flap pocket and one of the buttons that keep that hand warmer pocket flew off, never to be found.
Since then I’ve noticed many of the buttons on the fly placket are loose and have hanging threads.
I carried my money clip in the inside breast pocket and it’s weight put a hole in the pocket lining.
I was able to mend this but it happened within a year. I also experienced a small hole in the lining of the right sleeve.

The feel of the material is great and I really like it and I’d buy it again knowing this, but I hope to be careful as usual and enjoy it in rotation for years to come.

I hope that helps a little and if you have anything else you need to discuss feel free to pm me.

Chris, thank you so much for your reply! I sincerely appreciate all feedback on this piece.

I own lots of Daniel's Royale products (Peacoat, Solden, both black and ivory cardigan, Harrington, and Madagascar shirts) and I usually make the mistake of buying a bit too small (wishful thinking on my part). I'd probably want to layer a bit with this piece, though not too much. Depends on warmth. I too have noticed that buttons frequently need attention to assure they stay put, but I love Daniel's work. I'm pretty much a 46(plus) chest with around a 38-40 waist.

Thanks again and guys, please keep the information coming!

    Thanks!

    Will

Looking for a Saturday/Weekend "bump" of a deluge of information? Anyone? Thank you in advance.

In my experience, the forum is far quieter at the weekend. It becomes far more active when people go back to work tomorrow morning. :D

I had version 1 and found it to be a nice warm, comfortable jacket but the colour was off. I bought Version 2 as the colour was spot on but I’ve only worn it once as the sizing was a fair bit slimmer.
I’d have trouble layering under version 2 yet the shoulders are quite large.
