As many of you are shipping collectibles worldwide (or are receiving them), this may be interesting:
Effective 1st January 2019, there are new laws for shipping of goods Europe-wide (very much likely worldwide).
In the past, most items have been shipped as international LETTERS, often recorded for a relatively low fee.
According to International Postage rules, this is not possible anymore.
INTERNATIONAL LETTERS ARE ONLY POSSIBLE FOR DOCUMENTS!
Everything else must be shipped as PARCELS for a much higher rate.
I'll give you an example how this affects Germany:
A letter with a maximum of 500 gr. is EUR 3,70,--, worldwide.
recorded and insured up to EUR 100,--, it is around EUR 8,50
Now for goods, a EU parcel is EUR 13,99, internationally starting from 17,99
This will particularly affect ebay sellers and buyers and expect to be a lot of international letters to be checked for contents
