MatchesFashion - Church's Ryder III sale

Yesterday I bought the Church's Ryder III for shipping to Australia from matchesfashion.com

They are currently marked down to $360 AUD (£200) however I was also able to use the extra20 code for a further 20% reduction even though they are not advertised as accepting it and it wasn't accepting it 2 days ago.

So they came down to $288 AUD (£154) - free shipping here over $300 AUD.

They still have some decent sizes left and if you're signed up with Cashrewards.com.au (Australia) you'll earn 4.9% cash back of the purchase price. If you're in Australia let me know I can refer you and we both get $5.

Or if you're in the UK you'll get 4% with Quidco.com if you're in the UK I can refer you to Quidco and we both get £5 so extra savings

Hope it helps.

    Thanks, HarveyMushman! {[]

The total cost for California was under $250, which included sales tax. Best of all, free returns if it doesn't fit.

Already have a pair but for that price I would seriously consider buying another pair. Alas, sold out in my size. I guess that's a good thing :))

However, I did see that they also have the Chetwynds on sale (that I also already own), so if you want that GoldenEye look......

The Chetwynds are only available in G, where it is explicitly stated. I couldn't find it for the Ryders either, quite annoying for them to forget such an important piece of information.

Chaps, it took all day but managed to get MatchesFashion to confirm the width. Over the phone they assured me it would be the "standard fit", in the UK this is F but they have e-mailed to say they are G width, probably why they are such a good price as most folk would probably prefer an F!.

I've ordered a pair and when they come will compare to my C&J's etc F width to help out with sizing.

Mine will arrive on Monday I will confirm width.

They are normally the standard price and I hadn’t seen them in their sale before so I don’t think they are “clearing them out” either way I’ll confirm.

I have the Ryder 81’s with the crepe sole in F which feel marginally tight so I’d be happy either way.

I can confirm G width. I have small narrow feet however and the G fits very well I'm kind of pleased they weren't the F (standard) width.

Mine arrived as well. They seem to run large to size as well and they weigh a ton. Will make a good calf workout wearing them

Ha yes they are heavier than the Ryder 81s I’m quite looking forward to “battering mine up” a bit to give them that casual worn in look.

Best thing about them is being Goodyear welted so the soles can be replaced. They should wear incredibly well with a general clean every now and then.

Mine have arrived and fit is okay - they are quite narrow for a "G" fit. I have C&J Ilays in 8UK F and the Ryder 3's in 8 G are a little more snug than the Islays for example so I would say they fit a little smaller than others but not much. If I had an F width in the Ryder's I'd need to go up half a size for example.

My Ryders after a couple of years of hard wearing. Just brought them to the cobbler for some new heels.

Off topic: if I'm a US12 should I get these true to size or should one get a half size bigger\smaller?
    Yes. Consssssiderably.

Generally if you're a 12 US you would get an 11 UK (but sometimes an 11.5 UK). I have found the Ryder to be a wide shoe, and going a full number down from my US size meant the shoe was too large because it is wide, but down another half size for me was too short. If you're not used to Church's, you may need to try a few sizes to see which (if any) works for you.

I find these large to size in fact they are massive! I am standard size 8 uk and these are really clumpy and wide and long as well. If I could choose I would go half a size smaller and width F. I also find the shape is not as elegant as some others such as the Arthur Knight version which I have had for years has a more pointed and sleek silhouette. They are made well and I can see they will last but for me there are much nicer versions out there and certainly for the price.

I received my boots today. My first shock was to how heavy the box was, but that was due to MatchesFashion shipping the box within a box within the shipping box.

As for the boots themselves, I am a torn.

I think they look great. I love the chocolate brown suede and the rounded toe.

I ordered my usual 11UK. i am a size 11.5US with a size 12 arch length (short toes). I have wide feet with a high arch. It was frankly quite difficult to get my feet into the boots with the socks I wear with sneakers. I had to use a shoe horn as the vamp is verytight when putting on the boots. It was a little easier with thinner socks, but not much. Once on there is plenty of room in the toe box. It is a bit wider than my Loake Kemptons and Herring Canterburys (both 11F), but tighter in the vamp. I don't see how I could have put on an 11F in the Ryder even with bare feet. The heel felt pretty good. Not tight and not loose.

The length is very much true to size and I like the extra width. However, they are heavy boots. The Dainite soles look twice as thick as those on most of my other chukkas. I'm not sure if I can wear them without insoles for comfort, but with insoles I may not be able to get them on at all. I will try them on again with my boot insoles and see.

On Monday I may have to contact MatchesFashion for a return authorization.

Just ordered a size smaller than my normal size - went into actual Churchs store and they said their shoes come up big. They normally recommend go half a size down according to sales assistant.

They say everything happens for a reason, not been around in a while and I missed this great deal. By a fluke I did an eBay search and picked up a pair for £200 practically brand new - result! So for my two favourite QOS looks I have:

    Talamone

TF Cardi - check (again after some git stole my original now with Royale back up for everyday wear)
    TF 108’s - check
TF Shirt - keep looking but plenty of options
Levis Sta Prest 307’s - keep looking patience is you friend
    Church Ryder 3 - check

    Haiti

    Y3 Jacket - check
TF Polo - don’t like the fit prefer the svelt fit Sunspel in black - so check
    TF 108’s- check
Levis Sta Prest 306 - keep looking
    Church Ryder’s - check

Might start on the Las Perlas look now got two out of five already:))

Here is a picture of the Ryder’s next to the Loake Pimlico not a bad option in my eyes as an alternative.

    Cheers :007)
