Is there a big difference between size 38 and 40?

Hi Commandant - really sorry but i've already sent them back to Mr Porter. I can tell you from trying them both on that there was not a big difference in size. From my experience - i am a size 40R chest, muscular build and i would have taken the 38R instead of the 40R. My wife thought the 38R looked better. When i tried on the 40R it seems to pop out in the stomach area so it could make you look like you have a gut, and that is definitely not the case with me!! It also seemed too long on the sleeves and give the prior comment that wool stretches, that put me off as well.
