In 2018 we, four Bond aficionados from the Netherlands, started The 00 Files. A place to share our love for British finest secret agent with the world by writing articles, making videos and recording podcasts. Martin, Anthony, Don and Tyler (me) met while ‘working’ for the largest James Bond website of the Netherlands. After a while we decided to start our own website so we could continue our efforts in English. You can find us at www.the00files.com
So far we have published three movie review podcasts (Live And Let Die, Diamonds Are Forever and The World Is Not Enough), Don has recorded two interviews (with Steve Cole, writer of four Young Bond novels and Anthony Horowitz, writer of Trigger Mortis and Forever and a Day). Next week we will publish Don’s interview with Samantha Weinberg, writer of The Moneypenny Diaries and next month we will publish our Casino Royale movie review. Our entire archive of podcasts can be found at www.the00files.com/podcasts
You can also find some articles written by us and videos. We will try to upload new content regularly; however, we will not focus on breaking news. Because by the time we’ve published this, you will have already read about it on six different websites. So we will focus primarily on some in-depth stories. I am currently working on the first part of a series where I delve into the unused parts of the Fleming novels. There is surprisingly much that EON hasn’t used in the film series to discuss.
If you have any tips, comments or ideas, please let us know!

M: "Jealous husbands, outraged chefs, humiliated tailors . . . the list is endless."
Thank you, that is nice to hear. London has a lot more to offer, of course, but a few hours of shopping is time (and money) well spent.
Today we published another interview, this time with Samantha Weinberg, author of The Moneypenny Diaries. Don interviews Samantha and together they talk about the character in general, making difficult decisions, traveling around the world for research purposes and juggling multiple timelines until your head starts to spin.
You can find our podcasts (and articles and videos) on our own website, but we are also on Stitcher, iTunes, Spotify etc. Just search for The 00 Files.
You can find the article at: https://www.the00files.com/articles/back-to-fleming-casino-royale
Please let me know what you think. Any scenes I didn't include that you would want to see?
You can find the episode here

Anyway, the episode is up on our website as well, www.the00files.com/podcasts but available on Stitcher, Spotify, iTunes etc. as well. Let me know what you guys think, I am curious to know.
In this bite-sized episode Martin, Don, Anthony and yours truly tell Dink to bugger off so we can have some well-deserved man talk. Seated around the dinner table, all dressed in powder blue, terry cloth playsuits of course, we discuss the following topics:
- What if EON Productions would give you free reign over their empire for Bond 26?
- Name three of your favourite non-Bond movies.
- If you could recast one actor in the Bond movies, who would it be?
- What is the most prized possession in your James Bond collection?
- If you had been cast as 007, which three Bond movies would you have liked to star in and why?
We discuss our love for famous movies like The Big Lebowski, Bullet and Gladiator and not so famous movies like A Few Dollars More and Bull Durham. Why a money clip that is on screen for no more than a second might not be the best addition to your collection. How you can collect boxes full of promotional material without ever displaying them. And last but not least, why Denise Richards was the worst casting decision in the history of the 007 franchise.
What seems like an easy holiday in Jamaica, quickly turns into a deadly mission for British secret agent James Bond. Quickly check the hair on your wardrobe, the talcum powder on your briefcase, the silencer on your Walther PPK 7.65 mm and listen to our review of Dr. No (1962).
Does the toppling of American missiles really compensate for having no hands? To find out, Martin, Anthony, Don and Tyler (yours truly) venture deep into the marshes of Crab Key and go through a thorough decontamination process. After being carefully looked after by sister Lily and sister Rose, they discuss the film that started the 007 franchise!
You better watch out for the following:
- Bulb-licking, freelance photographers
- Flame breathing diesel-engined dragons
- Lairs with easily overheating reactors

Sergeant, make sure he doesn't get away.
As always, we would love to hear from you guys. So if you have any suggestions, comments or compliments, let us know!
In his book (or monograph, really) He Disagreed With Something That Ate Him, author Cary Edwards analyses both Timothy Dalton James Bond films and concludes that they are among the very best in the franchise. But, which one is better?
In this interview Don and Cary pit The Living Daylights (1987) against Licence To Kill (1989) to decide once and for all which of the two is the best. In order to do this, they compare the films on eleven typical James Bond elements, such as the villains, the ladies and the gadgets.
Cary has been kind enough to send us three signed copies of his book, He Disagreed With Something That Ate Him and you can win one of those! All you have to do is compare Daylights to Licence for each of the eleven elements yourself and then afterwards motivate which film wins and why. You can enter this competition until 15 May 2019 by going to this website: forms.gle/p75nJNpjzhU7KH7M7
For Your eyes Only
After taking Dr. Goodhead around the world one last time, James Bond returns back to earth for his next adventure. With M. away on leave, Bond is sent on a mission by Tanner to recover the ATAC system that was lost in the Ionian Sea. So start your Zamboni, make sure your mini submarine is ready to go and listen to our film review of For Your Eyes Only (1981).
Does Bond really have what have what the Greeks call 'thrasos'? To find out, Anthony, Martin Don and Tyler follow 007 on the mission that takes him from a villa near Madrid to the high mountains of Cortina d'Ampezzo and from the deeps of the Ionian Sea to a monastery build on top of a Greek mountain in St. Cyril’s.
You better watch out for the following:
- Bald-headed, pussy-loving culprits who like high quality delicatessens.
- A yellow Citroën 2CV that is prone to take the low road.
- Big, blond, German henchmen who enjoy to pick up and throw heavy objects.
And remember: Conserve your gas supply. Speak only when necessary.
So, is this really the spy novel to end all spy novels?
What makes Ian Fleming’s books so addictive to read?
Why does Bond fall head over heels in love with Vesper, so much in fact that he lies to his superior, M.?
And, most importantly, where the hell is Royale-Lex-Eaux located on a map?!
In part 1 we delve into the first nine chapters starting off with 007 already on his mission in France, pondering how someone would try to rob the 'caisse' of a casino. We discuss Bond’s gambling tactics, the proper pronunciation of René Mathis and whether EON missed an opportunity by omitting the bomb attack by Blue Man and Red Man.
Obviously, this podcast is filled with spoilers, so if you haven’t read Casino Royale yet, you have been warned!
You can find the podcast on our website https://the00files.com/podcasts or in your favorite podcast app.
I'm going through all the podcast in the car.
Really interesting, fun and relaxing while stuck in traffic! Thanks {[]

"Where’s Fekkesh?” “Pyramids.” *thwap* “AHHHHHHH!”
Turkish police investigated the incident and found that two members of the German embassy were behing the attack. They lay siege on the embassy and after two weeks the two men were handed over. They were both given long prison sentences. The Soviet Secret service NKVD was most likely behind the bombing.

Interesting stuff Number24! Thank you for taking the time to share your research with us.

One of the sources we used was this article at http://jamesbondmemes.blogspot.com/2015/09/where-is-royale-les-eaux.html One of the passages from that site reads:
What about the inspiration for Royale-les-Eaux? Jon Gilbert in his magnificent Ian Fleming: The Bibliography (2012) states that the town is based on the coastal towns of Deauville, just south of Le Havre, and Le Touquet. However, some of the details of Royale that Fleming provides better fits the description of Trouville, which neighbours Deauville.
In this second episode of the Man Talk series, our Dutch Jameses and Felixes continue their discussion about all things Bond. Making sure to be far away from the prying ears of any blond masseuses that might be lurking around, they discuss the following topics:
- What are some of the Bondian things you’ve done (recently)?
- What’s your favourite Bond decade and why?
- What are some of your favourite non-Fleming Bond novels?
- What is your favourite James Bond spoof?
- Between 2002 and 2006 the franchise seemed to be in a bit of a crisis (again!). What you remember from this period and how did you feel at the time?
They discuss their fear for another Die Another Day, the fantastic special features on the DVDs and becoming a proud Bond fan again after watching Casino Royale with your friends. Why Spy Hard has the best credits sequence of all Bond spoofs. How you can scientifically decide what your favourite Bond decade is (and how there is only one acceptable answer to that question). And last but not least, why indoor skydiving is an excellent gift for your girlfriend’s birthday.

A man of the world, so suave and discreet. He trips over women, piled up at his feet.
