Q and 007 continue a bickering relationship which is clearly well established.
Moneypenny and Bond continue a flirting relationship which is clearly well established.
Bernard Lee's death caused M to be absent with Tanner standing in, emphasising that life in the secret service continues.
So, I'd say no.
No, for all the reasons Barbel stated.
We haven't seen Bond so desperate and tearful before

Not a dress then
I know this is your thing, but I never saw Dalton tearful anywhere in his two films. You seem to be mis-remembering.

One can also speak of Bond cycles--the first six Bond films are the original cycle, taking Bond from his introduction to his marriage. Then the second cycle (the over-the-top comedic era), stretching from DAF to MR. Next, the third cycle (the more down-to-earth Glen era) from FYEO to LTK, followed by the postmodern Brosnan cycle and the gritty, "it's personal" Craig cycle.
I always thought you had the horse’s arse scene in mind )

DC Comics did that exactly in a 1980s storyline called Crisis on Infinite Earths, where literally everything that ever happened no longer happened, and Superman had to arrive on earth as infant all over again to get the new stories started.
Craig's Casino Royale does this, it is explicitly the first adventure of a brand new character also called James Bond, and none of the first twenty adventures of the other fella(s) ever happened to him.
None of that applies to FYEO.
Since FYEO mentions Tracy by name, and has a Blofeld like character, and even has the Lotus, it actually references the old films moreso than just about any other up til that point.
It is the biggest change in direction since OHMSS. A change in tone and storytelling. Some of those returning elements (the Lotus exploding) are to signal what is being left behind, others (Tracy and Blofeld) signal what is being reemphasised (Fleming content!).
Unfortunately this was just a temporary deviation, as the next two Moore movies would get very silly once again and include much less Fleming. It's more like the two Dalton films are the continuation from FYEO's new style of Bond film.
I wonder if it was the competition from NSNA that made EON lose their nerve and go back to what had been working for them during Moore's tenure rather than continue with the stripped down more serious spy stories?
I don't see any tears.
As much as I like Dalton as Bond, I see teary eyes in the second photo.
I have a friend here on the forum and he's a strong defender of Dalton.
One day, he asked me what that weepy Dalton is all about.
I've told him, just to watch the baloon popping scene and the horse's arse conversation and check Dalton's eyes.
He came back later to me and

I haven't watched TLD (for a reason) for many years now, but if I recall correctly, he has weepy eyes when he tells M that the champagne was not the right one.

That champagne thing shows that you're imagining it. Why would be be tearful?
The fact you haven't seen the film in years also proves that you don't know what you're talking about.
And I was living next to the Operahouse that is seen in TLD for some time in Vienna

Well, yeah, that could help:)
I don't mean to be abrupt, I Just mean we can all get hooked up on something. With me, it is Craig's pout. Others don't see it, but I do
