Couldn't agree more with that. But then the same could be said of Tom Cruise so I guess it transfers to the character. Hunt always gives the impression that he thinks that if he wasn't in IMF the world would end.
I would be fine with Bond 25 being a great Bond film )
You, me and everyone on this forum. After Skyfall and with the dream casting of Christoph Waltz my expectations for SPECTRE were high and unfortunately not lived up to. Hopefully lessions have been learned.
Given a better script and a director who has not run out of ideas and had his arm twisted to come back, I think Waltz has a good shot at redeeming himself in Bond 25 if the rumors of his return are true. It will be interesting to see how Bond 25 reconciles the events of SPECTRE. Making the five year gap between films a reality in the timeline of the two films will be a good thing IMO. In that five years a lot of things could have transpired and it would have given the writers a great opportunity to set the stage for Bond 25.
I reckon the plot of Die Hard 4 - Live Free Or Die Hard (2007) would have been ideal for a Bond film.
McClane attempts to stop cyber-terrorists who hack into government and commercial computers across the United States with the goal of starting a "fire sale" that would disable key elements of the nation's infrastructure.
The film is okay, not as good as the earlier Die Hards but the plot premise is brilliant.
If you replaced the cyber-terrorists with SPECTRE and had them hack and disable the world's internet, huge potential. Perhaps a story idea for Bond 26?
I finally saw this. Been falling behind in my film watching over this last year.
I definitely get the argument it is a pastiche of various Bond scenes, classic or obscure, and often improved. I mean, they actually redeemed the opening of Moonraker and made it genuinely believable and suspenseful!
also, between the underwater prison break in this film and the sniper at the opera scene in a previous film, they seem to pay particular tribute to the underappreciated Dalton-era films.
and the fact an actor approaching 60 is freefalling through space and climbing on the outside of skyscrapers is a perfect rebuttal to the suggestion Bond should be retired at 45 (but I'm still a Fleming purist on that issue)
One thing I wish our films would emulate is the location filming. All that action in Paris in the first half!
The recent Bonds are practically like a teevee show in comparison, with the establishing shot that could come from stock footage followed by interiors that were probably done in a London studio. The travel is a fundamental part of the Bond fantasy, EON! Why are they cheaping out on this aspect?
In my opinion all the Mission Impossible films have been better than the Bonds since Casino Royale. So much so I am looking forward to them more...……..well obviously I'm not but you know what I mean?

yet so disappointed at what we got
