Anniversary screenings in London

There are two upcoming screenings of TMWTGG and OHMSS at Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Square around Xmas time. Has anybody been there to see Bond films before?

Was thinking of booking as I don't think I've ever seen my hero Sir Roger Moore on the big screen before and I'm not sure how often these come up. If they were a more common occurrence I'd choose one of his better films instead... :) :)

Well Moonraker would surely be a fantastic experience on the big screen. I'm not in London at that time so I won't catch it but I would choose that one out of the two for its impressive cinematography and its grand scale. Now I think about it, I may have seen AVTAK when it was released in the 80s in my youth so actually it's about time I went to see a Roger Moore flick again.

I'm hoping so yes and to see OHMSS on a big screen will be great :-)

Saw OHMSS this evening at the Prince Charles Cinema in London. Still seeing stuff in that movie which I never properly appreciated in all my previous (mostly small screen) viewings. The gunbarrel sequence was ruined by a couple of guys standing and faffing around in the front row at the beginning, but otherwise it was a good screening. The guys were middle-aged too... old enough to know that the gunbarrel sequence in a classic Bond film is or should be regarded as sacrosanct.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

Shame they spoiled the gun barrel sequence for you but pleased it was good otherwise.

I'd love to see some of the earlier movies on big screen - I've just turned 53 so was too young for any pre-TSWLM films (1977). That competed with Star Wars for me although I do remember both of them on the big screen and loved them both - Star Wars winning out at the time but Bond has endured more for me......

Where do you get your info about planned screenings?

TMWTGG benefits from big screen viewing since the cinematography in exotic locations is one of its strengths.

This was another PCC screening in the smaller upstairs cinema. Small enough for the experience of the sound design to be somewhat compromised by three conspicuous cases of extended bag rustling and munching, and by the odd case of contrived cackling along to the film's racist and sexist jokes. Ironic, since the PCC always prefaces its screenings with a reminder to punters about the need for respectful behaviour among the audience, using, amusingly, the clip of Max Cady ruining others' cinema experience in Scorsese's 'Cape Fear'. But I mustn't be too much of a grinch. It's rare even for indie cinemas to have a no-eating policy, and the PCC is no exception. And to be fair, TMWTGG invites audiences to laugh at jokes which now feel embarrassingly dated.

Overall, I still like taking opportunities to see classic Bond on the big screen.
