Unbelievable - 18 hours after I leave London and after they told me no early release before 18th ?:)
That's a bit poor from N.Peal.. ?:) Given you're just the type of customer this collection is aimed at, the fact you're a big 007 fan, your connections to the fan forum and your desire to purchase 5-6 pieces (£££!) before being unable to for some time.
And then they release the collection early anyway.. 8-)
Welshboy, I agree with others...that wasn't cricket of them to do...would you mind if I shared the feedback with them?
They are already aware as I did mention to them on Social Media and to be fair they acknowledged and apologised stating they cant bend the rules as contractually obligated under licencing conditions etc however since then its been released 24 hours early lol
Just to be clear I was not wanting the collection “quick” but just trying to avoid hassle for both myself and more so them with the inevitable sizing issues )
I have put my order in online so will see what happens - free shipping to the Falklands will hit them hard however I also have to bear the cost returning / exchanging. So this could be expensive and a fair lot of hassle which I tried my best to point out! -{
It’s a beautiful collection. Unfortunately the pieces that seem to be the most special (I’m looking at you FYEO outfit) far exceed what I can justify paying for knitwear, but I’m still glad they did this.
My only complaints are (1) the orange mock neck is way overpriced for a cotton cashmere blend, and (2) the descriptions of the knit hat and checked scarf are a bit misleading... :v
The Skyfall scarf was a pleasant surprise. I hadn't seen that in any of the vlogs.
We were warned that the prices were in line with N.Peal's other stuff, and I think that's true. I had made a list of a couple of pieces I was definitely buying and had questions marks about two others (DAD rollneck being one). The prices caused me to ditch those question mark items (for the time being at least).
But I did add the Skyfall scarf to my order.
It's not every morning that I spend a grand before 8 am.
I bought the OHMSS orange sweater and brown bomber; GE sweater; and the DAD sweater. I will end up buying the TLD sweater and the OHMSS blue zip up and white turtleneck at a later date. I really want TSWLM vest but i can't justify the price.
If you compare some of the Bond items to the same items in the regular collection (like the GoldenEye cable-knit round neck sweater in a different colour), the price is the same. So this higher price is across the board for them and is not just a Bond markup.

Matt, a serious question for you, and indeed all the influencers, if not given these pieces by N. Peal (or Orlebar Brown), would you have spent full retail for them?

To be honest, I wouldn't buy most of these items because it's not how I dress most of the time and I already have knitwear and other pieces that I'm happy with. I'm not an impulse buyer. I have a list of what I want to get, and I sit on it for a year or two before I buy something. I don't buy cashmere clothes because I find them too delicate, and that's just the nature of cashmere. My wife has bought cashmere for me because she likes how soft it feels on me, but I prefer to buy merino wool items because they are soft enough for me and are harder-wearing at a much lower price. The only cashmere items I would buy would be a scarf, since that does make a difference around the neck. If I was in need of gloves (I have too many pairs) I would have bought the N.Peal 007 gloves.
I probably would have bought the Orlebar Brown towelling polo because it's such a unique item. I rarely spend full price on any clothes that are not made for me, but if I do buy ready-to-wear items at full price it's usually on the more formal items, like Albert Thurston moire braces or a Turnbull & Asser tie. I think the Bond-branded clothes are really cool, and I love and appreciate the efforts the N.Peal and Orlebar Brown put into these Bond lines, but the branding doesn't usually influence me to buy something. I think the clothes are fantastic, even if they aren't the kind of thing I would purchase myself. I'm a very practicality-minded person, and I don't buy a lot of things I like if I can't see their purpose in my life. But I can see the purpose these clothes could have in someone else's life.
Living in coastal California, I don't have much need for knitwear. I wear gloves maybe 7 days out of the year. I don't need any of the N Peal pieces, although I do like the gloves and scarves. I can't justify the cost per wear.

I'm assuming you're somewhere warmer than San Francisco? There are pieces in the collection that could still work for you. The Goldfinger black polo and black jumper would be perfect for your weather.

A little further south. I do like the black polo and sweater combo, but not at $850 when you add sales tax. Cost and cost per wear again. I already have a long sleeve Sunspel black polo a similar look.
That black polo a sweater combo...in OB, that's just a long sleeve polo and a better deal.
The Goldfinger look from N.Peal is two pieces while the Thunderball look from OB is one. The N.Peal pieces are made from cashmere and silk while the OB polo is made of merino wool, which is why N.Peal costs more.
Re the Skyfall lodge scarf... has anybody who owns the original made a comparison to the NP offering? Would appreciate your insight.
Additionally, I guess the original Skyfall and Spectre items are no longer available without the branding? I know it's just me, but I do cringe a little if I see a "007" tag in a clothing item. I find it cheapens the item, like a noveltly t-shirt (and I do own a couple of novelty t-shirts, but...).

I think the scarf is more of a “inspired’ by piece. Original not herringbone etc

Thanks for the comments. However, I am led to believe that both the DAD and GE sweaters are more similar to their respective originals. Is this correct or are they also "inspired by" (which they are) pieces quite removed in feel from the originals?

The GE sweater lacks the intricate weave pattern the screen used one has. Again it’s an ‘inspired by’ piece. I prefer it over the original to be honest.

The gloves are already sold out in size 8.5.

Yup, I noticed that too. £246 > £295

As Matt stated, the prices across the board have gone up. I purchased the Milano jacket last year while it was $950 and it's now offered at $1,110.
