Concerning N Peal sizing

So with the NTtD jumper "controversy" raging on, and me sitting on the fence on a number of N Peal items for a long time, I thought it would be a good moment to ask this.

I only own one N Peal item, the Spectre Cable Roll Neck Sweater in Fumo Grey. I purchased it from a fellow member and have been very happy with it. However, I have noticed that it has streched over time, especially the neck, and it does look baggy and unfit. I'm not conscious of having mistreated it, have always folded it carefully and kept it in a drawer, etcetera. Has any member found a similar problem?

To be honest, it wasn't too fit since the beginning, and I seem to recall this sweater was an exception to N Peal sizing (did you need to size down?). The thing is, one of my doubts regarding getting new items is precisely the sizing.

I'm a 41" chest, and according to N Peal I should order sweaters in M size. Would this be correct? If so, should I eventually look for the cable roll in S size?

As usual, thanks in advance for your comments and feedback.

Might be a silly question but have you washed the jumper?

NPeal clothing is notoriously over sized. And it will stretch over time given for the delicate nature of the fabric.

Some of mine that start feeling a bit baggy spring right back to size on washing.

NPeal have a page about how to wash them. They will also wash it for you for a small fee I believe (if you live near London).

I see you’re in Spain. Maybe email them asking how best to tackle it. They sometimes reply, it’s a bit of luck I find.

Thanks for your suggestion, HarveyMushman! I have been wearing it sparsely due to fear of getting it stained, and have also refrained from washing for fear of ruining it (despite having read the recommendations page on their website).

Will try as suggested, or look for a specialised cleaner nearby.

The neck on mine has also gotten pretty loose and the overall fit seems baggier than I'd like. I think the neck stretching out is just one of those inevitable things, no matter the size, but I have also wondered about going down a size with the Spectre Roll Neck for the body fit. Maybe it doesn't even matter as I receive compliments whenever I wear it.

The latest Naval jumper seems over sized when I watched the Bond Experience vid. That sweater is very unforgiving when the sizing is incorrect as the shoulders buckle due to the leather on top. I have seen several Insta posts which supports my theory. I'm keen (if the store has it in Burlington arcade) to try it on. I'm usually a size medium Tom Ford 48 (sometimes 50 depending on season). I work out a bit so I should be able to hopefully "fill it up" with a small. I will report back if I ever have the chance to try it.

Yea, I'm concerned about the same issue although I'm looking at larger sizes, I sent a detailed request to NP this morning asking for help and advice, I will be sure and share whatever they send back to me. I had posed a similar question on the thread about NTTD wardrobe and based on my measurements the suggestions were to go XL, but I keep seeing people who say size down. This will be my first NP item so I really want to get it right.

Same here, I am especially interested in the sleeve length on the L/XL.

I just sent a message yesterday to n.peal asking about sizing for me, so it sounds like I shouldn't expect a quick response if they respond at all? Having read many threads on here that address this same issue (size) I'm totally confused, for the military sweater some say size down, others say size up, it will be my first NP sweater, I'd like to get it right without having to order two or sending it back multiple times.

A lot of if is how you want to wear this.
When David did his vlog the small for him was more SA than the Medium although the medium still fitted well.

Personally I would say size down, there larger than normal.
I'm a 40 chest and went for a small to get that SA look although the M would of been okay but I didn't want it loose.
If you want it more looser style stick with your normal size.
Just waiting now for the revised SA version that there doing for size XS and smalls.

    Hope that sort of helps

Is it true that NP response to inquiry is hit and miss at best?

I am usually a medium (39'' chest and 30'' waist) and I took a small in this.

I receive a reply to about half my e-mails to N. Peal.

So you know, that N. Peal will be revising the patches situation only for sizes XS and small, may I ask?
Thank you for clarifying in advance.

    edited March 2020

Thank you for your email and your patience.

We have new information regarding the No Time To Die sweater.

Our design team are going to modify the patches for the smaller sizes according to the structure to the jumper. For this modify version they will increase the space between the patches making the jumper patches looking like the Daniel Craig is wearing poster. Please note that they are just going to modify the patches not the jumper fitting.

Unfortunately we don't have the specific date when the jumper is going to be in the stores. We know is going to be in March.

In the meantime you can return your jumper and as soon as we receive the new one we will exchange it for the modify version.

We hope this option is suitable for you.

Doesn't specify, but I'd imagine Medium would be covered too. Would be weird if the most common size was not scaled correctly.

The email I got specified: "Our design team are going to modify the patches for the smaller sizes (XXS, XS and S) according to the structure to the jumper."

I stand corrected, guess they're making two patterns then (XXS-S, M-XXL)
