And by that I mean I went to H&M and bought myself a navy v-neck shirt for 10€.
Seriously, who buys this stuff???
Not trying to get an argument going, but a lot of „Bond-influencers“ really seem to embrace this line while the general census is not positive.

Yeah I mean, I’m not intending to be critical of anyone, but I’ll just observe that if OB was sending me some of this stuff free of charge to put on inatagram, my opinion of it would be far more favorable. ) Same goes for the N Peal stuff from a few months ago.
That said, the OB line from last year was far more unique and I did end up purchasing one of the pieces (which I wear a lot). This one, like the N Peal line, is a hard pass for me because it feels like generic clothing with an extreme mark up based solely on the Bond connection.
The white Thunderball shorts arrived today and, despite being no longer than a pair of boxer briefs, they're a lot better (and less.. lewd?) than I was expecting. Thumbs up recommendation.

I know what you mean.
The OB prices are crazy. At a push I could justify £75 spend on a t-shirt, max, so OB is too rich for my blood.
I bought a very screen accurate (with no visible branding) nice quality BOSS blue v-neck a few years ago for £50 in the sales. Chuffed to bits with it, and I wear it on the beach or out on the water every summer holiday. I don't feel it's cosplay, as it's just a blue v-neck t-shirt at the end of the day. If I spent £245 on the OB one I would just be scared to wear it in such an environment (where it should be worn!) However, I do appreciate that it's all relative and for some, dropping £245 on a t-shirt (albeit 50% silk) is the equivalent of £50 to me.
I saw the two Bond Experience videos about the collection and i have to say that David does a better job at showcasing each piece than all of OB's promotional videos combined.
However, even though the videos ignited my interest in some pieces, the truth is that the pricing is ridiculous and totally disconnected with the current global situation. I am not even sure that they will become price-wise tempting during sales.
Stripe and blue linen Thunderball shirts at a push (maybe) for me when they hit the inevitable sale.
Cant believe how they bastardised the Gingham - looks terrible
Right. You can call it Gingham or whatever you want since this actually has nothing to do with the one Bond wore. I am fine with interpretations but they should lead someone to recall the piece they are supposed to make reference to and this is not the case here. I actually had the same issue with some of the previous collection like the Goldfinger trunks (also nothing to do with the originals) but in this collections is even worse... If these collection goes on sale in a few weeks/months and prices get drastically reduced I would then consider to pick up a couple of things. Otherwise will be a clear pass.
Mason and Sons have done a much better job of recreating the short sleeve camp collar shirts and at a fair price. I would go with them over this OB collection, even the linen suit could be recreated through M&S or elsewhere with better materials than what OB have used IMO.
OB seem to be increasing prices across other products as well. I have noticed that their version of the TF Polo - the Mallory Silk has been increased from £245 to £295. However, they have released a new version called the Mallory X which is at the old price point of £245 but seems to be even more of a closer version of the TF Polo with a waffle texture. May consider getting this as when they do release more stock of the Navy Mallory it will be at a higher price again.
For sure - i remember when they started out here in the UK and apart from the shorts the other clothes were reasonably priced - they were not really a luxury brand, nor could they claim to be as they don't have any serious fashion design pedigree. I think they are definitely aiming for that and there has been a marked strategy change since purchased by Chanel in 2018.
Finally catching up on the films I missed in our rewatches and Thunderball made me wonder why, seeing as OB are a swimwear company (although knit polos, linen suits etc are telling me they’re straying a long way from their roots), they haven’t made an attempt at an “inspired by” version of Bond’s TB orange wetsuit top? Maybe not in full wetsuit material, but I could see them do a rashie/rash vest/rash guard/swim shirt with a zip and a bit of a collar—if it wasn’t for OB’s outrageous prices I’d buy that. It features in some big parts of the film and on a few of the film’s posters/marketing material.
I purchase the Lincoln polo and actually liked very much.....for me it is a combination between the TF polo (design) and the Riviera polo from Sunspel (material)....

I don't think this is an influencer issue, unless the issue is they aren't listening to the influencers enough. Most of the folks on that scene would have steered them away from a lot of these decisions.
And maybe I'm generalizing, but this line seems to be a wide misfire where the first line was not. Screen-inaccurate choices, retreads of tops that Mason & Sons already covered for a fraction, and what feels like all around higher prices this time? Something went wonky internally is my guess.

I guess you saw Shawn's (aka James Brosnan) Instagram stories rant about Orlebar Brown's collection and their marketing team.

Yeah, I'd much rather have the Mason & Sons camp collar for $114 than the OB for $295!
Here's my version of the Lazenby Portugal suit.
Bespoke tailored by Navin's in San Francisco. The suit is linen, and wrinkles quite easily. IMHO arm holes were cut a bit low for my taste, and the button hole is too high, although I have a short torso, which is why my tailor put it there. Probably will have a second jacket made, with the higher arm holes for driving, and no padding in the shoulders.
Lining is also very high quality. A very comfortable suit for hot weather.
Cheers, Tom
Yesh, they've just taken to recoloring pics of the DR NO polo themselves at this point. They also mislabeled the DR NO and THUNDERBALL items on the email, swapping the titles )
I love OB's product, but the increased price tag that allows them to add the 007 logo on a tag for items that are not even connected to a particular film or look is a bridge too far for me.

I seriously need to check out H&M for the t-shirt.

I didn't! I'll have to go look.

Edit - sorry delete as I just realised you did not mean the OB store but a local store.
I have the suit and the colour looks accurate when you see it in natural light.
Thanks! My wife takes great photos of me in my Bond outfits.
Hamming a bit, with the Bellboy.
