horrible, could they just please re-release the Skyfall Setter instead ...are there any plans for it? still sold out :/

    Oh no

    unnamed-2.jpg

    Is that real?

I take it that's Goldeneye? Is that under the 007 branding? I guess putting a travel brochure shot on some swim shorts is a valid design choice but trying to peddle it on the back of a licensed brand is a weird choice. It's like getting the Batman licence and using it to sell people underwear with a picture of Bob Kane's living room on it.

A couple of questions for the board:

Has anyone bought an item from the 2020 OB 007 line that you especially love?

Are any of the pieces on sale at stockists yet ( :)) ) and if so where?

Full disclosure, I was gifted this item, but I truly love the OHMSS linen trousers. The fit is perfect for me, the details are exactly as I like them, and they are very well made.

Can anyone help with the fit between the 007 branded polos and the Jarrett? They look almost identical to the naked eye and the latter are £40 cheaper. I have the first run 007 blue dr.no polo and the fit is incredible, the only thing I'm not too keen on with the new releases is the £165 007 branding. Photoshopping connery in different colour polos is criminal and fraudulent in my opinion.

Not worth its own thread and not part of the line, but this OB jacket is very Bondian in my opinion...

Nicer than almost everything in their 2020 007 line if you ask me.

It does make you wonder why they didn't do something vaguely with a nod towards one of Rog's safari suits. Masons & Sons do, don't they?
  • HalfMonk HalfHitmanHalfMonk HalfHitman USAPosts: 2,353MI6 Agent
Mason & Sons made a safari jacket in a very non-Moore fabric, but it was quite nice and lightweight. The above jacket rendered in a sand or putty color could've been "Roger Moore inspired" with no changes (much like some of the existing 007 line shirts).

Yes indeed, and even has a more 70s collar than their actual Moonraker not-shirt thing.

Hey hey folks. I'm launching a new YouTube channel, The Bond Vivant, and my first film is about the new OB 007 Heritage Collection. Hope that you approve, as I don't pull any punches...

Nicely done! I absolutely agree with how several of the items aren't 'Bondy' enough. While I love the MR long sleeve shirt, it really doesn't bear enough of a resemblance to the film version to really merit the Bond label.

And yeah, glad you called out the ridiculous pricing.

Not an OB piece, but since we’re talking safari jackets, I recently picked this up from Private White VC and it is excellent. https://www.privatewhitevc.com/products/revere-jacket?variant=31499021942845

While it’s not a “Bond brand”, they make high quality British clothing. For me, it’s a more Bondian maker than many of the ones currently associated with Craig’s Bond.

    Terrific video Blair. Subscribed immediately.

I agree with your assessment of Orlebar Brown. I find that OB tops don't fit me well. Large is a little tight, XL too big. So it really has to be something special to justify the cost plus alterations.

You gave the company some great ideas for future products.

Jealous of your 50th Anniversary Castro Theater poster. I have been searching for an affordable copy for quite some time.

Congratulations on the new channel, Blair. Love the Bond Vivant as a title.

Very informative, too. I think you identified where OB started going off the rails here. I’m curious how this line is selling. Adding those other polos smacked of desperation to me. But who knows?

Did you try the TMWTGG shirt by the way? I’m interested in that one, although far more interested in the unidentified NTTD pieces we’re all waiting on.

Thanks, Steve. I was so lucky to grab both of the Castro posters. Looking forward to making more vlogs. Hope that you enjoy them, too. Stay safe, brother.

Thanks, Cheverian. I only bought the pieces that I thought that I would really get use out of. I didn't buy the Golden Gun shirt (or the Dr No polo and trousers, and there Octopussy Harrington), as, from looking at other reviews and photos, I thought that, whilst a great looking shirt, had veered too far from the original. But if you like Camp Collar shirts, I'd go for it. I might be tempted by the Harrington if it goes on sale, but my other half will probably just sigh, as my wardrobe is crammed with Harringtons already!.

    Stay safe,

    Blair

Interestingly enough: my store where I bought it from is now sold out of that shirt while they've still got full size runs of the other stuff from wave 2. They also got in the OCTOPUSSY Harrington and honestly, I was not impressed. The Royale Harrington is a far, far superior jacket.

I really wanted to like the Octopussy Harrington, but as I have mentioned before it reminds me of something from Ambercrombie & Fitch in terms of styling and stitching. I can't see spending over $525 on it.

Since you've managed to see and feel the products in the collection I would be interested in anything else you could add about the pieces.
