So my parents are both 84 and I have asked them to be careful now for weeks.

2 weeks ago, they have told me, that they have tried to enter church that sunday to discover that the church is closed
A very emotional exchange from my side followed this and they promised me to be more reasonable.

Yesterday, they told me, that they have staid home but needed to go to the car dealer to change to new summertires because these have been ordered and needed to be paid and mounted..... X-(

:)) :)) :)) Sounds just like my parents! My father is retired colonel of the army, when I told him not to go to cafes or shopping; he told me in his best deadpan voice "I am able to fend for my self, why do you feel you can tell me what to do?." Even though it was over the phone, I had the strongest urge to snap into attention!

I can't help but be completely shocked by the pandemic, I have a feeling the world won't be quite the same once we get back to some form of normality.
The misinformation out there is incredible, and the conspiracy theorists are having a field day, one thing that does seem more obvious than ever before is that Chinese press releases should not be believed. If any of you have any friends in China, try and get them to text the word virus back to you in a message.

Does the mention of virus change the text to "We are happy, healthy and are able to travel freely around our safe and prosperous country. Also how great is socialism!"?

No they just use a strange symbol that isn't on any keypad I've ever seen, apparantly they use mobiles to track people which they always denied but managed to get it up and running in a few hours!

Good luck, 3.5 hours at Sainsburys the other day for Mrs Coop, one in one out policy, so I've been using smaller shops and the farm shops and honesty carts, no queues with those.

Plus there's a suggestion they had the whistleblower doctor rubbed out as punishment - an allegation that carried more weight a few weeks ago when it was said only the elderly and infirm got it. We've had a few younger people die of it since then.

You can't believe what China say about the situation any more than Russia.

Sadly, the same Witchfinder General attitude to whistleblowers goes on over here, it is actually contagious, it's quite mad. I know, I've experienced it myself when i took my mother's care home to the press a few years ago. Surrey County Council's Social Services absolutely went for me - got my mother's subsequent care home to fit me up and timed their attack for Xmas Day. Charming!

Both Sweden and Norway had nore Corona deaths the last 24 hours than ever today. Norway lost six and Sweden lost 36. I think Sweden needs to re-think their "open borders and few restrictions" approach to Corona.

As supplies where low *, I went out to Edeka and Aldi - no lines over here outside and inside.
The cashier places are shielded with foil to protect employees and shelfs are packed wit everything that you usually need.

    However toiletpaper is still low.

    * and we are shopping for the neighbor too who has no car

They also have quite high CFR, 3,6% compared to Norway 0,8%, Finland 0,9% and even Denmark 2,7%

And in spite of everything the head epidemilogist in Sweden says Norway is the country that's experimenting with Corona, not them .. 8-)

It's times like this that make me grateful my mother insisted in having a bidet put in when we redid the bathroom; a case of toilet paper now lasts us weeks.

But seriously, I haven't looked over my shoulder so much and felt this uneasy since 9/11, though this feels worse as nature can be more dangerous than a thousand zealots.

I hope all my fellow AJBrs are doing ok, practicing social distancing and doing their part to help flatten the curve.

Interesting post, Higgins. Yeah, I'm sure this guy has it all figured out, especially since simple math on $18K times the US population comes to $5.9T, almost three times the stimulus package. I'm sure it feels good to vent politically, but you don't help your case with garbage like this. There are far more important things to focus on these days, as you yourself are proving with admirable actions such as shopping for your neighbor who has no car.

The working population in the US is around 130 million people and I am sure that he was referring to that. 130 million x 18.000$ = 2,34t $
It gives a picture and an idea about who is paying for all this in the end - with higher taxes.
Let‘s remember that first thing many corps did after they have been bailed out by the taxpayer in 2007/2008 was raising boni for their top heads.

You need to move to Texas. . .our governor made it legal for liquor to be delivered. (And for gun stores to stay open.)
