I'm onboard With TSWLM tomorrow, of course. But so far we've seen only (possibly not DN?) movies that are pretty much univesrally loved. I hope we'll pick one with a more mixed reputation for next Friday.

    Next I'd moot more Moore.

I‘d personally continue with MR and then AVTAK or GE.

I think it' would be a mistake not watching a few of the less strong entries.
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,866Chief of Staff
Some would say that MR is one of the less strong entries.

(Typing "strong entries" makes me think that some would make a double entendre out of that. But surely I can't be serious)

MR is one of the more debated entries, sure. Even though I don't own a copy of MR myself I think the film is an obvious choise for you to watch together. But since Moore made seven Bonds it's natural to watch three of his, and I think AVTAK, LALD and TMWTGG are good choises.

Later I'd suggest watching LTK, GE, DAD, CR and QoS
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
Maybe we can watch NSNA or CR 67 instead of LTK :v

I'm sure you don't have any ulterior motives ( :v ), but I think LTK is one of the most distinctive Bond movies and we should watch it together.

Somebody said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Here we go, another lovefest" as we started watching one recently and they have a point. I believe N24 has suggested that one of the less universally beloved films may provoke more interesting discussion.

    So, my suggestion is TMWTGG.

    N24 wanted a controversial movie.

So, LTK is out and TLD as we all agree that it‘s sh*te :D

To quote an old pop song that's played a lot here in Norway lately: "Optimist. I 'know' it'll end well" :))

I get the feeling Casino Royale (not the Daniel Craig one :D ) will take priority over Dalton.

This is clearly some new use of the word "all" which I've not encountered before.

I'm going to vote for MR too, as it polarises opinions. There are some bits in it I love, and some I hate, do I'm also interested to see what others make of it.

When are we thinking of screening it?

Seems that we have a consensus.

Whoops, slept through Moonraker this morning...completely forgot about it. Need more updates the day of on the sticky thread!! Before I went to bed last night the most recent post on the thread was 0400 Friday my time, then the next post was well after I had gone to bed, 0100 Saturday (for a start time of 0500 Sat), almost a day later.
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,866Chief of Staff
Hope you can join us next time, JTM.
Well, Higgins, obviously either TLD or LTK- your choice!

(It's only logical. In order we've had 2 of Connery's, the one Lazenby, 2 of Moore's, must be Dalton next)
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
    Barbel.
You should not bank on anything being logical coming from my end :D

I‘d propose FYEO to have another look on the adorable Cassandra Harris to build the brigde directly into the Brosnan age, or AVTAK, alternatively GE which is a must imo.

No problems with any of those, but expect no polite words from me over GE's score if that gets picked.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,334MI6 Agent
I think it should be AVTAK. It's the formost example of the "senior citizen" Bond, it's not science fiction like MR and we need an example of Moore's Bond in the 1980's.
If we skip to Dalton I think it should be LTK because it stands out. It's the most Daltonesque of his two entries.

    Just keep trying :D
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
I disagree though. Dalton is much more annoying in TLD.

I am able to get some enjoyment from LTK because of the Florida locations and the lovely Carey Lowell, there is not much of that kind in TLD.

I have chosen TLD just because I want to rant on and on about that baloon popping scene. My blood pressure is already building up

You argue well for TLD, especially the bit about your blood pressure. ;)
But I still feel TLD is the most distinctive of the two and hence it's the best choice. I'm not totally against us watching TLD, but it's not very different from many other Bond films in my opinion.
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
But it‘s worse so it will be relatively easy to spot and name the glaring things that went wrong.
