I've enjoyed watching hte Bond movies together with you and there are still a few left, I think it's time to talk about non-bond films we can watch together in the future. Here are soem I think can work:

    Were eagles dare
    The guns of Navarone
    Force 10 from Navarone
    Johnny English
    Austin Powers
    Mission Impossible

I don't have all these movies available now. if we require everyone to have the movies we watch together after we finish the Bonds we can probably stop watching movies together after FYEO. Of course we want as many as possible to watch movies together, but we're unlikely to all own the movies in question. But we only need 3-4 people to have fun watching a movie together!
hear everyone's opinions and suggestions on this :)

A series of movies, such as Austin Powers, would be my choice.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,331MI6 Agent
That would be nice. I also think "The Guns of Navarone" is sort of Bond in the 1950's, and the sequel "Force 10 from Navarone" has Jaws, Agent XXX and Red Grant! Balancing spoofs and action/spy movies is a good way to do it.

I'll probably bow out of real-time shared movie viewing after we're done with the Bonds. The reason is that, frankly, there are few other movies or series of movies that I know as well as the Bonds... or that I know so well that I could easily post about them at the same time as watching them. The other films that I *do* know as well are quite an eclectic mix. It's been a lot of fun, though. Sorry I missed DN and OHMSS; I'll have to re-watch those two when we're done as this will have been the first time I've watched all the Bonds in a 'season'.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

I'd be bowing out for the MI films, and the Bournes too if they are suggested.

    :D

We could start all over again with Dr. No and all enjoy the dancing bloke now that we know what‘s coming.

Pretty sure we all learned from the first viewings, so it may be a different experience for most of us now and just wait and count how often Dalton weeps :D

I'm onboard for the MI and Bourne movies I own. I think it's in the constitution that people can bow out of shared viewings of movies if they don't want to, so that's okay :p
But if we are to continue watching movies together after Bond we have to accept that not everyone can or want to watch.

The dancing man may be the biggest find of our "watching together" adventures :D

Higgins, you're billing our watch of FYEO on Friday as the grand finale to this most enjoyable series. I don't suppose there'd be much support for CR67 the following Monday?
  • Shady TreeShady Tree London, UKPosts: 2,998MI6 Agent
I'd join in for CR67. Unlike any other of the spoofs it's technically a Bond film. It's also a party movie so would be apt as the film with which to close the season.

We could certainly do this, but I'd regard this then not being in the line of the EON movies but a sidearm or something.
I'll certainly be in with CR67, it must be decades that I've been sitting thru the entire movie.

Yes don't forget the Climax Mystery Theatre version.
It's a bonus feature on the dvd of the "funny" version I have.
I wouldn't try to watch them both versions in one sitting though, as the "funny" version is long and a bit of an endurance feat.

Also, if you're watching the Climax Mystery Theatre version on that dvd, it's missing the last couple of minutes.
Somebody has posted the real ending on youtube here, so be sure to watch that too. It makes a difference as to how the story ends!

I have the Climax Mystery Theatre show in a VHS retail copy, though I don't know how far that edition varies from others in digital form.

Happy to report that I have a still sealed Blu Ray Copy of CR67.

That's excellent. I just hope that anyone who hasn't seen it knows what they're letting themselves in for.

Getting ahead of things, I'd like to suggest that we follow CR67 with CR54. Again, I hope that those who haven't seen it know what they're letting themselves in for!

I've seen CR-67 years ago. I remember enough to know I wouldn't do it again if I wasn't watching it with you people.

I thought of Hitchcock's films if people have them. But like Shady said I don't know films other than Bond well enough to watch and type.

I would like to ask a suggestion.....

Is there a possibility that the Bond watchalongs could be repeated in the future?
I (through no fault but my own) came into them late and they are great fun.

It would be nice to be in the Dr No, by having the Goldeneye to watch all of them?
To see all of them in this company would be Quantum nice. Plus if others like Me
who only live twice, it could be the Living Daylights.

    I'll shut up Q now.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,331MI6 Agent
I think the watchalongs can be repeated, but not for some time and it's probably best if more and possibly different people take part.
In the meantime I think we can watch spy movies and spy movie spoofs together.

On that subject, Number24 and I think that "OK Connery" aka "Operation Kid Brother" might be a possibility. It has many actors from the official series and some interesting music.

I‘d suggest watching the Austin Powers movies together and point out the references to the EON Bonds

Anyone else owns the OSS117 movies?

I have never seen it, but I've heard it's something special!

Especially the ending- you really have to pay close attention throughout for it all to make sense.
