The whole ninja bit led to some puns I'm terribly proud of in http://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/806790/#p806790

Bond going Japanese is in the novel- it plays strangely today, esp when they’re trying to make a 6’2” Scotsman into a typical Japanese. Of all the sequences in the novel to show on film, they pick this one?

Bond's "What about me?" Ironic, as his character is being lost in the movie.

Aki's lovely reaction shot when she thinks that it might be she who's going to be married to Bond... charming moment, reprised in the OHMSS title sequence.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

An even more awful wig for Connery :#

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

Music- “Death Of Aki” (of course)

That poison killing is 100% Fleming!

Bond's mournful moment looking down at the dead Aki...the impact and effect is ruined by his silly 'yellow face' look.

Oddly, he just suddenly loses that look altogether once inside the volcano...

In the Alan Whicker documentary, there's some good behind the scenes stuff for these sequences.

    No, that's a kyoto

    Almost pure Fleming.

Mie Hama isn't as good an actress as Akiko Wakabayashi but she has an iconic look... an idealised Bond girl

Kissy Suzuki's name is not mentioned in the movie. Neither is Bond's Japanese pseudonym, Taro Todoroki.

And hello, Nikki van der Zyl. Again!

Music- “Mountains & Sunsets” On the OST. Simply gorgeous- influenced David Arnold on DAD “Going Down Together”
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,866Chief of Staff
Mie Hama's swimming double- Connery's then wife, Diane Cilento (in a black wig to cover her blonde hair)

So the countdown has begun. The Americans seem dangerously happy to precipitate all-out warfare in this film... all over the loss of a couple of crummy capsules.

YOLT is called "James Bond in Japan". Do you know any other titles for YOLT?
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,866Chief of Staff
Connery is not wearing a toupe at all for these scenes

Was she sharing Connery's temporarily retired one?
