I think presenting the plan to the cinema audience near teh start was a mistake. We should discover it with Bond. Largo isn't a very good villan and his henchmen are very forgetable. There are of cource many postive things to say about TB too.
Couldn't agree more. Totally enjoyed TB for the... 200th?... time.
Connery dominates the film, prowling like a panther (like I've said before, there's a lot of him simply walking across a room. Terence Young was influenced by John Huston's "The Maltese Falcon", where he spent a lot of time filming Bogart doing the same).
John Barry's score is unparalleled. He carries the many underwater scenes.
Largo isn't the greatest villain, and his henchmen aren't memorable, but Fiona Volpe more than makes up for that.
It's a beautiful film to watch, with wonderful scenery and classic photography.
The various Bond women are all gorgeous- Domino, Paula, Patricia, and especially Fiona.
Sure, there are problems with the pacing and continuity but I can easily overlook those.
So, thanks everyone for an enjoyable evening and re-affirming my love for this movie!

I love the pics of all three ladies, they are clearly enjoying themselves.
Thunderball... a film that is more than the sum of its parts, and in many ways highlights Goldfinger was not a one off. The location shooting is solid, all the cast bar one give solid performances and the tech takes second place to quips, Action and the wow factor.
The weak performance is Rick Van Nutter as Felix. Great in every other scene, his performance feels awkward in scenes with Connery, unlike Cec Linder before, or David Hedison and Jeffrey Wright in the future. Perhaps it’s the lack of banter.
Overall an exciting film that stands up well as vintage Connery Bond.
It’s just a shame all the NSNA and Warhead 2000 crap would drag behind it the legal tussles were resolved up till CR-06 put that to bed.
Time to feed the sharks....
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I was thinking the same thing.
Yes, but he's wearing his blue mask again soon after!
So exciting when seeing this as a kid in the cinema.
Yes, superb
Yes, I agree
Pity about the ‘mad steering wheel’ on the bridge too. Exciting stuff nonetheless!
