The 19:00 deadline is set so that everybody has enough time to find their DVDs/Blu Rays, boot their players and get done with the menus and pause right where usually the gunbarrel would begin.

- Please make sure that everybody has their BluRay/DVD/VCR ready and start the player latest 19:00 GMT to get done with all the dodgy menus.
- PAUSE YOUR PLAYER RIGHT WHERE IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS JAMES BOND THE GUNBARREL REALLY SHOULD BE
- HIT PLAY PRECISELY AT 19:10.

Seeing these gifs reminds me that she really was perfect casting as Fleming's Vesper, even by looks alone.

Controversial opinion but I really don’t get the appeal of Green—it looks like she turned up to set for the day of shooting and was only then briefly told how to act as well as be sexy/seductive {:)

JTM, with due respect - There is something wrong with You! )

Lets just say, it takes a truly exceptional woman to stir my curiosity and Ms Green is a perfect example.
I saw CR-06 at the cinema seven times in the end, and she was def a contributing factor to that.

I think although she looks sexy, sultry and enigmatic, she is a self professed shy geek,
and one with a deliciously naughty playful sense of humour. Look at the gif of her in the red blouse with white buttons.

Her eyes sparkle with a naughty energetic sense of fun to rival Jill St John or Dame Judi herself.
Vesper is a broken character, as denoted in the film. - By contrast Ms Green is playful entertaining and funny.
Although she joins the film almost halfway through she is a shining spark of vitality, grace and nuance from
start to finish.

Its such a damned shame she is a smoker.

I have to admit it took me a couple of viewings to warm up to Green. At first I found her Vesper cold and unsympathetic, but then I realized the subtleties of her performance that had eluded me and became a fan. She's a good actor and it doesn't hurt that she's drop dead gorgeous.

I’m certainly not saying she’s not attractive—she actually looks shockingly similar to an ex of mine...which makes rewatching CR and other films she’s in, well, a little weird—I just think she’s quite wooden in her acting and overall screen presence. I guess that might just her “thing” though.

I'm sure you're aware, JTM, that freedom of speech is incredibly imortant and a cornerstone of democracy ...... except when it comes to celebrities and James Bond fandom

Yes we sure are a emphatic bunch when it comes to our little interest ) My opinion on a certain actress definitely doesn’t affect my opinion on the film though—CR is still at or near the top of my “list”.

I still think she was miscast to be honest: i don't think she's great at the repartee stuff. Craig is being sparkling but she's like a rock when it should be bouncing back and forth a bit. And also, I don't care hugely about the nationality stuff (we've had an Irish Bond and a Canadian Moneypenny of course) but I do find her a little hard to buy as a British Treasury officer.
I also don't get why she seems to always empty her lungs just before she starts speaking

You are not alone, JTM.
Green does not much for me - the only time that she looks really stunning is in the shower scenes imo.
Caterina Murino on the other hand is everything that you can wish from a woman.
She is gorgeous, sexy, cute and just amazing.

And btw, as much as I like CR as a whole, I truely hate* the „you took my armour off“ talk.
Annoying as hell and totally unconvincingly played by both of them.

Maybe Gymkata can find some nice Caterina Murino .gifs just to balance things out

I'm with Higgins on disliking the "armour" dialogue.
However (and here we go) on the subject of miscasting I don't think it's Green that was miscast in this film.
As a lifelong fan of the book, I was thrilled to see it onscreen, more or less accurately (2nd half anyway). The book's characters (Vesper, Le Chiffre, Mathis, Leiter, M) all present and correct, some necessary updating, Fleming highlights and incidents rendered or interpreted. After all those years to see CR done right.
It was enough to make the film an instant favourite, even though....
I do not like Craig as Bond. Never have, never will. It doesn't stop me enjoying his Bond movies (I'm not Higgins) but to me he is not James Bond and is the weakest part of CR06.
It's been many years now, and I do understand that I hold a minority view. Still, I won't be watching on Friday pointing this out at every opportunity (did I mention that I'm not Higgins?).

I'm looking forward to going back to Casino Royale - I think it's been a couple of years since my last viewing of it. It sits in the #2 spot on my Bond ranking just behind FRWL...I doubt that will change, but at this point I'm not quite sure where I'd place Craig in a ranking of Bond actors. When CR first came out I was certainly quite enamoured with Craig's portrayal and I think I ranked him second only to Connery. 14 years later he might have slipped down a place or two, but I'm not sure yet who would go above him. Possibly Dalton, and I think my appreciation for Moore has grown a bit in recent years.

He's not Fleming's Bond, no, but to be honest I find him more interesting. And he represents the flavour of those novels if not the exact character represented in them, far more so than Brosnan for example.
He's perfectly cast for that script, whereas I'd say Green isn't.

The moment when he crashes the Germans' Range Rover in the car park feels like the golden age of Bond coming back, and with a twist. I can't even imagine Dalton's Bond pulling that off with that much swagger- he'd be looking furtive and nervous.

I think it's Craig and Connery at the top as the best, to be honest. But Roger is perhaps my favourite

That's a fair point of view. I don't see it that way, but I see where you're coming from.

Actually, thinking again, it's probably not true of me to say he's perfectly cast for that script because he's a little bit too old! I think you can tell that ideally he would have maybe nearly ten years younger for the story they're telling. But he is the right type for it.

I suspect they really wanted Cavill (then 23) to work out for it, but Craig was just better.
