I have recreated Quantum of Solace (2008) as a screenplay paying careful attention to the writing styles of Purvis & Wade and Paul Haggis - I read his Valley of Elah script.

My Quantum of Solace (2020) Expanded script is coming soonish.

It expands what was a 1h 46min movie into a 2h 20min movie and incorporates characters and plot details that were revealed in the book Some Kind of Hero and on MI6-hq.co.uk, but there will not be a flashback scene showing Vesper becoming blackmailed or the killing of Mr White, obviously in the light of Spectre that would not work. Part of the ending, but not the final scene will involve Haines' estate.

As you've probably guessed, I like Quantum and my main problem with it is it is too short. While you can argue Goldfinger had a similar, but longer, runtime, I felt there was more story hinted at that could have been explored.

Sounds interesting, Someone. Nice to see you venturing out from the NTTD forum. :)

Glad you like the sound of it. And yes, I occasionally wander from my obsession with all things NTTD. I think it's going to be a landmark film in the franchise whatever the plot turns out to be.

It won't be long now, but you won't be reading it immediately after your exam season is over. Best of luck with all that.

    Just to update anyone who is interested;

    1. The expansion of QoS is about adding a third act, the actual film really ends with the end of the second act and the Kazan Russia scenes are an epilogue. The Kazan scenes are still part of the epilogue for 'QoS Expanded'.

    2. The new third act, incorporating characters revealed in the book Some Kind of Hero and on MI6-hq.co.uk is almost done. It has been a process of finding a resolution to the story that can fit within 22-odd pages, 46-odd scenes, that would extend the film from 1h 46min to 2h 20min. The third act must also reflect the pacing and structure of the actual film and not be a dramatic departure. I couldn't suddenly go all Moonraker with it, for example.

    3. The remaining work is really thinking through the action sequences. Like the structure and pacing of the actual film, the third act action must reflect the realistic action seen in 2008 QoS.

    4. A criticism of Spectre is that after the end of the second act's Blofeld lair explosion the third act is anti-climatic. A danger with QoS is that Bond's own mission is to find the truth behind Vesper's boyfriend, Yusef Kabira, and to find him, which doesn't lend itself to a traditional Bondian countdown to save the world or Skyfall-like showdown; especially as I felt I needed to keep the film's original Kazan ending. So, I have created a Casino Royale-linked sub-plot which I hope gives some sort of weight to the final third act showdown in QoS Expanded, between Bond and Mr White and Quantum. Admittedly you all know Mr White won't die.

    5. The final scenes, the epilogue, will involve Haines' estate. I have found that I can put the the Haines and Kazan scenes within the same number of pages/scenes as a typical Craig-era film epilogue, for example Casino Royale's post-Vesper death M debrief and Mr White's shooting/capture.

I am going to provide a first draft of this new third act and epilogue to a couple of people I know for their feedback and then I hope to post the completed QoS Expanded script onto the Internet for download shortly thereafter.

    Hi all.

The Quantum of Solace (2020) Expanded script which adds a new third act and altered epilogue to the original film's screenplay, is now with a few people for their appraisal.

I hope to post the completed QoS Expanded script onto the Internet for download soon, assuming the feedback I get does not lead to huge changes to this 2 hours 20 minutes version of of the 2008 QoS movie.

    Hello,

Excellent effort on the QOS screenplay. I was wondering if you ever got around to completing the expanded version?

    Thanks

The new stuff is from page 96. I did add a scene earlier in the film which explains how Mathis ends up in the back of Bond's car. You'll find that bit starts on page 62.
