TWINE has a long score, and it has been released in various forms (the OST, downloads from David Arnold's own site, bootlegs, covers, expanded score...). I probably won't go into that in detail tonight or mention every cue by name (sighs of relief).

General- David Arnold wrote the music (except obviously the "James Bond Theme" which as we all know was comp.... ahem, arranged by John Barry).
    Nicholas Dodd conducted the orchestra.
Don Black wrote the lyrics to the title song performed by Garbage plus "Only Myself To Blame", a vocal version of "Elektra's Theme". Sung by Scott Walker, it's on the OST but not in the film- Arnold wanted it over the end titles but director Michael Apted thought it was too much of a downer.

Guys, I'm expecting a lot of phone calls and/or texts this evening so forgive me if I'm not as focused on the film as usual.
Also, Higgins, for the same reason please count me out of the planned group call after the movie.

Hope that you‘ll still be with us for some time, Barbel
The group call is called off then, maybe we can do one celebrating our final group watching after FYEO?

I'm sorry and ashamed to say my TWINE DVD cover has been empty for years, so I can't take part tonight. Based on recent experience I'll probably find the DVD next week by accident :))
    Have fun!

I'll be in on the real-time viewing later.

Arnold's score for TWINE has a similar confidence to his work on TND - celebrating its own Bondian quality in a way that makes a good film even better. Although the vocal track of 'Only Myself To Blame' doesn't make the end credits (I see Apted's point), it's the foundation piece of some great lounge jazz in the film. To this fan's ears, that song calls back to Matt Monro's performance of FRWL, but also evokes a tone that would have suited Bond's loss in OHMSS.

My favourite piece of music in the TWINE score is the accompaniment to the PTS boat chase. The orchestral music there is in the grand tradition of Barry's action music, while the gurgling, sputtering techno layer works well as background to the sound of the boats' engines - better in the context of the sequence than in isolated listening.

TWINE's main theme song is a triumph. Arnold and Black pitch it in traditional Bond style, but it's less like the work of an over-excited new kid on the block than 'Surrender' had been. Shirley Manson and Garbage were a great choice. They were big in the indie music scene at the time, lending the film a hip, cool relevance. The official music video is very good, intelligently allusive and providing a mini-narrative in its own right.

Robert Carlyle played brilliantly a killer in the Series Cracker which made Robbie Coltraine famous.
Unfortunately he did disappoint me in TWINE

Patrick Malahide plays the Swiss banker. Best known to Brit audiences as Arthur Daley's nemesis, Chisholm, in 'Minder'. He's a good comic character actor.

The cops rapping at the door remind me of the hoods pursuing Connery at the chateau in the TB PTS, when he has to make a similarly breathtaking escape.
