Unsubtle symbolism, with M at one side of the bridge and Madeleine at the other.

The yellow filter is gone in favour of cold greys.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

And Bond in the middle with his gun to Blofeld's head. I like that part. But this movie is full of unsabtele symbolism.

Is this arc strong enough for audiences to weather the five year hiatus we'll have had between movies?

They seem determined to turn this into 'Bond exposition for dummies.'
Had this been the last Craig era film it might even have worked.
But it isn't... and it doesn't...
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

It starts off well, and there are some choice scenes, but the ending is really bad.

    So, thanks for joining in.

Imo Spectre is a wonderful movie besides it‘s flaws.
It gives spectacle and wonderful shots and a love story that develops and not suddenly happens.

The climax in the MI6 building is bad and unnecessary - I wish that they‘d came up with something else.
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

I doubt it- the world isn't made up of Bond fans (who fill hollowed-out volcanoes with big-breasted women).

I agree SPECTRE is a wonderful movie in spite of the flaws. But the Bond/Madeleine love story is unconvincing in spite of two excellent acors in the roles.

I always enjoy reading other people's take on these films. Had a good time :)

Worae than that, when there were Hollowed out volcanoes, hell when there was an Earth orbiting station, there was nothing anywhere near Bond's world.

Today Jason Bourne, Mis Impsble, lord knows what else is out there looking over 007's shoulders.....
The House Of Eon can't afford to make silly mistakes anymore. It is as simple as that.

I really don't understand people who rate this lowest of all the Bond movies. In what world is this worse than DAD?
Brothergate was a huge mistake, but it doesn't destroy the movie for me.
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,854Chief of Staff
I don't rate it at the bottom at all, not when QoS is around.

The film's cinematography is a strength, and there are some striking and memorable images. I also like the early scenes with the nu regulars, and the theme to do with surveillance. Brothergate doesn't convince, the retcon is ham-fisted and, for me, Craig seems to have lost his way in terms of what he wants to do with the character of Bond.

Other than CR, Craig's Bonds tend to have a much better PTS than ending.

Exactly. To answer your question No 24, Spectre is not bad because its awful. It is not CR-67.
Its bad becauae it makes careless, almost elimentary mistakes. Trying to tie all the Craig films together is a sloppy mistake. The whole Blofeld business and abandoning Quantum elements of a panicking establiahment and a careless director.

I just hope the new film can make up for those blunders.

I just imagined Madeleine finding THAT dress on the bed in Blofeld's lair, thinking: "You dirty old man ..." :))

Check out Marvel's 'Deadpool 2' (2018) for a gay porn parody of Kleinman's Bond title sequences.

    That was hilarious, thanks Shady!

Edit- Have never watched a Deadpool movie, but if that's typical of the humour then maybe I should.

It’s quite interesting hearing Mendes talking about this film on Deakins’ podcast; he says the third act fell apart on him as he was making it.

Deadpool is hillarious! The most serious scene is filmed to a-ha's "Take on me" :))

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. The self-reflexivity is unremittingly adolescent while at the same time the violence is quite nasty. As Marvel fare goes, though, DP is a notable niche.

Shady Three describes Deadpool well, but somehow that's the movie is so funny :D

I went to the cinema with my son (who was only 15 at the time - the film was a 16 certificate ;%) to watch Deadpool…I didn’t have much idea of what I was going to see, only that my son was very excited!!
I thought it was the best film I had seen that year - violent, rude and funny :))

And who are you building all of this for? Why overly design everything when it's not for show anyways...wouldn't it all be functional rather than overly designed?

    Because movie.
