One pity about this film version of DN is that we don't get to see Bond and Strangways together prior to Strangways' murder, unlike in the novels where Bond and Strangways had worked together in LALD. Still, from the concerned way that Moneypenny says "Strangways, and it looks serious" we can deduce that Bond and Moneypenny probably knew Strangways previously.
Monty Norman's 'rising tension' music as Bond draws his gun through the interior door of his flat is sort of referenced by Barry during the stalking music in the FRWL PTS.

Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
Connery plays well Bond's authoritative command as someone who gives orders and bosses folk around, starting with Mr Jones. Makes it seem credible that he was a naval Commander.

Ted Moore's colourful cinematography really stands out in Dr No, especially whenever Quarrel's red t-shirt is on screen. Lovely contrast with the green and blue surroundings.
This film has a reputation for its groundbreaking pace of editing, but by today's standards it takes time to breathe, allowing us to see Bond doing proper spy stuff and investigation. When Connery was interviewed in 1983 about his return for NSNA, he commented on how he liked the 'detective' aspects of the early Bond films.

True, but as the prop was actually a Walther PP maybe the actual gun was ever so slightly more powerful.
