The broadcast of the American technocrats' babble forms a great sound background to the climactic fight.
And as the panicked staff of Dr No try to make good their escape there interestingly seem to be as many female voices as male. Dr No was an equal opportunities employer...
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
And so, at the end of the film, we are left with one memory- Sean Connery totally dominates this film, over many memorable turns by the supporting cast. It was his first indisputable lead and he carried it off with a panache that would serve him well through the next 4 or 5 decades.
God bless you Sir Sean Connery.
I hope to arrange the The Guns of Navarone watchalong we planned some time in the near futuare. Everyone is welcome!
I'm glad you decided to join us, The spy who never dies.
Connery could hardly have had a better Bondian debut, and yet he still went on to bigger and better things - both in his own performances and the films as a whole. His legacy is extraordinary...RIP Sir Sean.

I look forward to The Guns of Navarone watchalong. Hopefully my recently ordered Blu-Ray will have arrived from the UK by the time that viewing takes place
Sean Connery as Bond was not just perfect casting, it was iconic posting. Calvin Dyson said the casting was as iconic as Chaplin as the Tramp. Whio else? Eastwood as the Man with No Name? Others?

Joseph Wiseman gives an excellent physical performance for the fight with Bond.
Yes, he'd have been perfect.

I was thinking that's what we should be wearing! We'd think twice before a trip to Tesco. Do I really need to go? )
