I think the stories have been misconstrued this week. POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT She will have taken the code name 007 in No Time To Die but I don’t think she will be continuing on as 007 as an inheritor to the franchise.

I had thought that was the case but ( Now this could just be bad journalism ) it seems
lately the stories are giving the impression that she's THE new 007 , onward. I think
this could hurt its box-office as several actors have hurt their own projects by making
some silly statements in the past. Charlie's Angles and Birds of Prey being two examples.

I find it bizarre anyone could think it would mean she's playing James Bond, especially actual Bond fans who watched Bond quit being 007 at the end of the previous movie.
I've no idea why it would hurt its box office.

This has panicked/angered a lot of social media meninists. I'm sure it's just a driver for the tension between Bond and Nomi, which should be fun. I doubt there would be a continuation or at most a spin off

Yes not least because it would mean two simultaneous chronologies for the 'Bond World': if she got her own film or whatever she'd be living in the world where Craig Bond has retired or whatever happens at the end of NTTD, whilst at the same time Bond 26 would be coming out starring a new actor as James Bond 007. I know DC have shown that people generally aren't all that bothered about different continuities, but I think it's the sort of thing EON would shy away from.

I think she looks like she's going to be really cool in this film so at the moment I actually wouldn't mind seeing her more(!), but I don't see how it can happen. You'd just be making a film about an Aston-driving, Omega-wearing 'not-Bond' British superspy in Bond's world, and if you're doing that you may as well just make a Bond film!

The fact that it’s being rehashed in the media leads me to believe it’s more wokeling bait promoted to (yet again) elicit a response from Bond fans and beyond.

Yes, she’ll be NTTD’s recipient of the once-retired 007 number. I wouldn’t be concerned about her assuming the franchise’s hero role. Number aside, her character’s name isn’t James Bond.

Pretty sure Barabra Broccoli has stated openly in the media that Bond will never be a woman (well while she remains a producer).

Personally I would love to see the next creation of Bond go back even further beyond achieving 00 status, to his Royal Navy service leading into his SIS appointment.

And for goodness sake take a leaf from 'Man from UNCLE' and go retro back to the 1960's era of the Fleming books!

Of late I have also lamented the fact that Bond must be played by an actor from the Commonwealth, as Timothée Chalamet would make such a fabulous young Bond :007)

She will be 007 for a duration of the film but i highly doubt that they would waste Daniel Craig's final 007 outing as a way to establish a new actor in the iconic character.

If that would be the case it would be a catastrophic end of the franchise as we know it.

It ain't gonna happen.
