James Bond VS Jason Bourne

Hi guys,

New to the forum :)

I'm a big Bond fan, but I also really like JASON BOURNE.

What I want to know is who you think is BETTER.

This isn't about who would win in combat, but who is the better agent.

Let's say you have an important mission you need to get done - who would you hire?

Also overall how would you rate them relative to each other?

For example if I think Bond is better, then if Bond=10, what rating would you give Bourne?

To help you out, I have a few scenarios/missions, but you have to factor all of them in:

* Assassination of highly protected mobile target in a city.
* Stealing documents from secure embassy
* Tracking down mobile (traveling globally) with little info.
* Agent is captured, cut off from all resources - must escape.
* Kidnapping a protected target.
* Withstand interrogation and torture.
* Solve a murder mystery as a detective
* Dropped into a jungle armed, and must eliminate a drug lord located 50 km away.
* Infiltrate the elite ranks of a crime family by going undercover.

    I guess Bond has a great track history, but he does seem to win quite often by luck and by causing the maximum amount of mayhem. In terms of being a professional who is efficient and gets things done you'd have to go with Bourne, although you've got to be aware he's under huge psychological stress and might turn on you at any moment! :)

    Agree. :)

    However I think Bourne would be fine if he was working for an "ethical" agency.

    For Bond, in addition to the history and luck factors, he also has very high social intelligence and charm which can be useful in espionage. Sometimes you can solve things with a conversation, and I think Bond demonstrates this a lot, especially Craig, which I've watched again recently - he often gets his way by chatting people up. If you are also familiar with Bourne, he is definitely more lacking in this department. In The Bourne Identity, there is a scene where he has all these intricate plans worked out for Marie to get info from a hotel, and she just ends up asking the receptionist for it straight up, and Bourne is like "why didn't think of that".

    So far I've been about 50-50, but deep down maybe if Bourne were a 10, I would give Bond a 9... is that blasphemy to say :o

    Ha! That's a good point :)

    Hello Kovert Potato (love the name, btw) and welcome to AJB.
    There are already a few threads on this very subject, and it's always a good idea to search first before opening a new one. I'll let this one continue, since some of those are quite old now.
