Barbour sizing

Hi everyone,
I'd be interested in buying a Barbour Beacon 'Bedale' but the problem is, due to restrictions here in Italy, I can't go and try the stuff on. Luckily, I've found a deal on Internet. The only problem is the sizing.
For reference I'm 5ft10, 32 waist, 36 chest. Broader shoulders and slim yet muscular building. Do you think an S should go? I've searched for info and found that the Beacon line should be more slim fit compared to the traditional Bedale. Just in case, I also have a tailor, so it wouldn't be a problem for minors adjustments.

Thanks in advance

P.S. Do you have any experience about the Barbour 'Munro', always for the sizing?

    Hi not much help but Barbour sizing terrible. As a rule I would recommend to go up especially as you have someone who can alter for you.
    Not much help sorry!

    This is a great question that I was thinking about this morning. I am thinking about purchasing one for myself, but I am more along the lines of a Large - XL, 44 inch chest and roughly 36/38 waist. Good luck!

    I have purchased a Beacon for someone who is 5ft10, 31 waist, and 35 chest, slim shoulders and the Medium fits wonderfully.

    Wonderful. Was it a 'Bedale' model or the Beacon Skyfall one if I may ask?

    I'd go Medium.. I'm 5'9" Around 155 lbs.. 31" waist.. 38 chest.. And my ToKito Lodge jacket in M is pretty slim on me.

    Hi Mattia,

    I'm very similar in measurements to you, and have always gone with M for Barbour brand jackets; though I do not have personal experience with the ones you mention, I'm confident M should fit you well if you want a tailored fit. Many do prefer to size up to get better water protection if they are using the jacket in the country but that's not a good look in my opinion.

    Good luck with your purchase! -{

    Thanks all for the help. Sorry if I keep asking, but as you can imagine I want to be absolutely sure before buying it. I've contacted my dealer about the sizing and he told me, given the Beacon line is a bit baggy, the S would be the best choice for me and still baggy in his opinion.
    I've written to Barbour's official site too to have another opinion. What do you think?

    36 chest? Definitely a small.

    Hi there I’m going to confuse things further!

    I think you need a medium for the Beacon jacket. I’m 36-38 and a medium is quite snug on me.

    Sometimes think I should have had a large ! Which ridiculous!

    Good luck!

    The beacon was a tailored fit and I remember the advice was to size up with this jacket. I am usually a 46 inch chest and had to go with a XXL for this jacket.

    Did you purchase the jacket in the end?

    Having researched this particular model I agree a small does seem more appropriate, the Bedale is not a trim cut like the lutz or sport / To Ki To models are.

    If you look on End Clothing they have this particular jacket on a model 6ft 1inches tall with a 35" chest and the medium looks rather spacious on him.

    I just received my Lutz wax jacket in Medium and the fit is tailored but not tight, I can fit a thick jumper underneath for warmth.

    I actually removed the throat latch and buckle too as:

    1. Who's going to faff with a throat latch;
    2. It looks alot more 'clean' and similar to the Skyfall original.

    Anyway good luck!

    No in the end I've not bought it. I prefered to opt for a shirt by Mason and sons. Maybe in the future...

    Finally I decided to purchase the jacket at Terraces. I've bought the winter version with a thin down lining. And I must say it was for a bargain price.
    After all problems with lockdown in England and Brexit, the package is finally due do be delivered today. I'll post some pics as soon as it arrives

    Look forward to seeing it.

    Sorry for the delay, but I've received the package only today. I had ordered a size Small and I must say it fits like a glove. Here's some pics even though I have not a proper mirror
