Just last night members enjoyed the Where Eagles Dare watchalong. Watching that movie was something we were set on doing together for a long time, but what now? What movies do we want to watch together?

Of those I fancy Red October. I'm not in for MI or Bourne. If Caractacus hadn't just watched North By Northwest I'd suggest that.

I think this thread shouldn't just be about the next film. It may be a year since we first mentioned WED as a watchalong movie. We have to play the long game.

There are many good movies in Gymkata's list. (The GIF's last night were up to the usual standards, thank you very much).

    I especially like:

    The Bourne Identity

    The hunt for Red October

    Mission Impossible

    Inglorious Basterds

I also want to see the more espionage themed Hitchcock movies such as North by northwest, Notorious, Torn Curtain, Saboteur.

"The bridge on the river Kwai" is a classic.

How do you feel about the new er espionage entries such as Atomic Blonde or Red Sparrow?

Then there are the parodies, especially Jonny English and Austin Powers.

Red Sparrow could have turned into an exploytation movie focusing only on Jennifer Lawrence's body, but fortunately they made a suspenseful spy thriller instead.

My bad for not having mentioned it while we were watching. Thanks for the great work there!

Higgins has suggested "The Pink Panther"- the original, with David Niven and Peter Sellers.

The Day of the Jackal would be a good call from my point of view as I have a copy of it on DVD and haven't seen it for many years.

The Pink Panther is a good idea. Now we've watched two war movies, perhaps it's time for a comedy?

I think a Pink Panther watchalong would be great! One of my favourites 👍️

    Are pornographic movies allowed?

    😁😁😁

I think the Panther is emerging as the front runner. Higgins, Golrush007, Number24, and me all in favour, plus Napoleon if Peter Sellers takes his clothes off.

don't worry about me, Chief. Its unlikely I'll be watchalonging anyway, the timing usually doesnt work out for me.

But having the movie so fresh in mind I should be interested in what yall have to say about it.

The Wild Geese and Our Man Flint, I would make arrangements to watchalong with these 🙂

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

That's ....Strikes Again, one of the silliest and most ridiculous in the series. Love it to bits, one of my favourites. 😁

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,854Chief of Staff

PS But it's also "A Shot In The Dark", come to think of it.

PPS And same thing for "Return Of..."

    Need more info, Gymkata!

  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent

    Agree.

But the Original PP is imo more classy and better balanced.

And it plays in Cortina which makes it a winner in my books

100% with you. The original would be the best choice for us.

I always crack down laughing when Sellers falls into the pool by watching the lady in the bikini

Catherine Schell couldn't keep a straight face in that scene, and pretty much every scene she shares with Sellers.

In the "Last Film Seen" thread a bunch of us have expressed support for "The Magnificent Seven", so I'm bringing that up here.

I’m in too. Anytime, any place, anywhere, as the old Martini ad went!

Just on the basis of Robert 'Napoleon Solo' Vaughn alone, I'm in for the Magnificent Seven. 🍸

Since the origional Pink Panther is the one I have on DVD, my vote is on that one.

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,854Chief of Staff

I'm okay with that one, but am also okay with "The Magnificent Seven". Decisions, decisions.

  • Golrush007Golrush007 South AfricaPosts: 3,421Quartermasters

I'm excited for both, whichever order we do them in.

  • CoolHandBondCoolHandBond Mactan IslandPosts: 7,206MI6 Agent

I think Pink Panther should be first as this was mooted before Magnificent Seven, which then could be next on the list?

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,330MI6 Agent

Sounds fine to me, even though I need to find a copy of Magnificent 7 first.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,330MI6 Agent

We have enough people onboard to go forward with Pink Panther. I suggest we start talking about when to watch it. Weekday, what week and GMT.
