  • Ha. Looks like we said it at the exact same time, I'll take that as confirmation.

The pictures are very blurry but the leather object does look like it is 3 dimensional instead of flat.

I agree those grabs looks there's a third dimension there, and that a holster is a great thought. However, I'll add this in for a bit of fun:

Wearing around an empty holster isn't super 'covert'. Like, for a spy.

Ive just watched the film, and waited patiently for this scene - its 100% the leather patch badge that is seen in the film, and is really clear on the big screen, but just looks bad in the screen grabs - I'm sure the blue-ray will confirm

Just saw it as well in Imax and concur with @Tennyson . Definitely just a leather patch, darker leather. And no noticeable stitching across the pocket, but the stitching around the pockets is a dark orange.

I'll do some hunting tomorrow based on what I saw.

    Cheers!

Dark orange stiching would match well the RGT jacket color.

    Thanks for checking!

    Just to summarize:

    • Dark brown rear leather tag
    • No rivets on rear pockets
    • Dark navy selvedge denim
    • Lack of decorative stitching on rear pockets
    • Dark orange stiching around the pockets
    • 34" inseam

Just finished the film as well. Appeared to me to be similar to this jean here. I’m not saying it is, but it looked similar to my eye.

The TF jeans (pics on the first post of this thread) remains a good candidate

  • StormmauerStormmauer Posts: 121MI6 Agent

The Tf Jeans have a suede tag, so wouldn’t be shiny though?

  • CommandantCommandant Posts: 1,374MI6 Agent

Is this tag leather or suede?

    Difficult to tell.

  • Bond_AmbitionsBond_Ambitions Melbourne, AustraliaPosts: 472MI6 Agent

To me that’s obviously suede but either way I don’t think suede would shine like what we see in those blurry pirated screen grabs.

this still doesn’t discount the possibility of the jeans being TF

I wouldn’t take it as confirmation, it was just a thought.

If it is a holster, it must be empty. Craig’s ‘perfectly formed arse’ doesn’t appear to be bulging in the back right pocket.

It doesn’t make obvious sense to give him a holster if it’s: a) empty, b) not highlighted for a narrative purposes & c) barely visible

It’s 100% a tag. Nothing in the pocket and not a holster over the waistband. Its a regular sized tag with a slight sheen. I paid particular attention to that scene yesterday just in case it was a holster. I think the screen grabs posted here don't help and are misleading. You can clearly see the top of his pocket and there is nothing in it. And the tag is quite clear as a standard tag in the usual location. Certainly reflective.

  • And the plot sickens...

Kind of looks like the type of tag you can put a belt through on some of the screen grabs.

  • Bond_AmbitionsBond_Ambitions Melbourne, AustraliaPosts: 472MI6 Agent

Yeah! It’s like the sides of the tag are open and unstitched. The weight of the jacket catching on the tag and pushing down could be creating some pressure causing it to open at the sides a bit. Hence the shadows either side of the tag.

Exactly. Even just having a tight fit in the waist is sometimes enough on some of mine. I didn't remember that from the IMAX viewing last night, but I'll pay better attention (and maybe sit closer) next time.

Based on what I saw and where other clothing used in the film has come from, I'd say Drake's is my best guess so far.

This model from fall/winter 2018 comes really close to my eye:

The main problem for me is the stitching around the pocket is so bright (and the tonal stitching across the pocket). But maybe that all comes down to lighting, camera filters, contrast, etc. And the jeans were probably washed more than a few times to break them in for filming. No way are Bond's jeans brand new dark selvedge denim!

The big thing is the thick leather patch. That is what really stood out to me when I was watching the movie. And I could easily see the costume department using oil to darken the patch on the Drake's jeans to obscure that "D" logo in the corner. When you apply oil to natural leather like that patch, it turns an orangey brown. And that would make it a good match.

    I'll keep hunting!

  • Honestly canoe2,

My hat is off to you for your efforts,

but let's be honest...finding an unwashed pair of blue jeans with a brown leather tag doesn't really narrow it down at all.

Unless the outfit shows up on display somewhere...at this point, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

  • canoe2canoe2 Posts: 2,007MI6 Agent

Give up the search? Just ... GIVE UP?!?!

And just how, pray tell, do you suggest I procrastinate when I'm supposed to be doing real work?!?!

    😁

pieces with less known details has been found already an member canoe2 is a real master in hunting down such items.

the Drakes are very good first suggestion. the light is tricky in this scene. I already tryed to brighten up this picuture but without any success :/

  • I stand corrected...

The wash of the denim looks very close to what we saw on film. That's a good close option for sure.. well done.

    First thoughts are:

    -must be selvedge

    -Navy or dark grey stitching

-tag is definitely unstitched at the sides

    -those could well be TF

BTW, you can put a belt through the tag of Tom Ford jeans, it’s unstitched at the sides (I have the Jamaica jeans)

Thanks for the great shot JT, did you take any more?

  • Bond_AmbitionsBond_Ambitions Melbourne, AustraliaPosts: 472MI6 Agent

Do we know if the front pockets are slash or frogmouth?

  • Bond_AmbitionsBond_Ambitions Melbourne, AustraliaPosts: 472MI6 Agent

one thing I find interesting is the detail at the top of the rear pockets:

TF jeans have similar detail, this is a good example from this mr porter listing:

However this horizontal stitching across the bottom of the pocket is common to all TF jeans and appears to be absent on Bond's.

How do you guys feel about the shape of Bond's jeans back pockets? They don't scream TF to me but they could be...
