Just read on Yahoo news that a lot of film items from the late film director Lewis Gilbert is going up for auction on 16th November. There is a number of Bond movie scripts being auctioned off.

Sale was something of a mess with technological issues pushing it out 24 hours (then still further delayed by an earlier auction running long).
Regardless, while I was convinced the estimates were high, many lots sold for double the high-end.
So much for believing no one in the COVID economy has money ...
Sadly for the bidder with an earth bound limit the reality of the Covid economy is that people with money have a lot more time and haven't spent it on travel, holidays and fine dining. Why things like the luxury watch market have rocketed.
Several of us have been trying to figure this trend out. Is it people sheltering from taxation with collectibles, storing them in freeports or what?
Recent auction prices have been ludicrous.
This has been going on across all collectables since Covid began. It could also be that people couldn't spend their expendable income on travel, didn't want to buy designer clothes just to sit at home and work on Zoom, and felt odd drinking a glass of Dom with a surgical mask dangling from their chin...and therefore spent the money saved on things they can enjoy at home.
Any of our members amongst the winners?
Bid on a couple of the scripts but as noted, sold for much more than my passing interest justified.
That said, would still like to read the early SWLM and MR drafts.
