007 Store Advent Calendar - false advertising?

I really hope I am wrong on this, but I've seen several posts/videos online of people getting their 007 store advent calendars, with the "screen-used" chips being $5, $25, $500. These, to my knowledge, never appeared in the film.

I'm making a post about it here so that I can consult some other hard-core fans, although I'm not sure much can be done if my suspicions are correct.

I just feel really bad seeing people excited about a potentially fraudulent, and very expensive, product...

You never really see them in the film as all the close ups on the main table only show the three higher denominations, but they are genuine and were made specifically for the film. They also made green and red Ocean Club chips you never see in the final cut, but there are tables in the background where they are being used. Chances are the lower denomination CR chips were used in the same way, but ended up on the cutting room floor. Floating Dragon chips and plaques were produced in their hundreds for Skyfall. You never really see those either, but they are there in the background.

I was thinking that could be the case, but I read on this site that, according to Cartamundi, the lower denominations were only produced after the film was made: https://www.antiquegamblingchips.com/JsBondCasinoRoy.htm

No, that information isn’t true. They definitely had the lower denominations on set as well as the higher ones. I was gifted a set with the plaques many months before the film came out. And later from a good friend who worked for EON who can confirm that.

Oh okay, that's good to hear. Still a little underwhelming to receive one that's virtually identical to a retail set, but that's better than I thought the situation was. Thanks!

Some people have had Floating Dragon chips in there. Quite a few in fact. The screen seen higher denominations seem to be rarer in the advent. The rarest being the black $100,000 version and most common being the $5 brown version. I wouldn’t be too happy about getting the lower ones either, ‘screen used’ is stretching it a bit, as you never see them on screen. ‘Production used’ would have been more accurate.

Yes, I had a Floating Dragon chip in mine, which looks pretty cruddy when paired with the certification from Eon saying as used in Casino Royale!

I’ve seen a few of the £100k chips on eBay with varying prices from £150 up to £1100, so not sure what the correct value is but thinking about treating myself to one for Christmas.

No doubt the lower dominations were used as set dressing in the background, but here is my 100k one.

It has a patina to it now.

No one's going to address that it is a 12 Days of Christmas box and not an "Advent Calendar" at all?!

Definite false advertising before you've even opened the box. Watching lots of Instagram Bondian folks wondering why their "Advent Calendar" has run out after 12 days or having to wait two weeks to start opening it has been dispiriting. For shame 007 Store, for shame.

    1) EON is sending Skyfall LOAs to "Advent" purchasers upon request. Not that I need any such trifles for my collection, mwa-ha-ha.

    2) The photo below shows Director of Photography Phil Méheux performing tests with a light meter on the CR set. Note the prototype plaques on the photo's right and also the four lower denomination chips under discussion, proudly stacked as $500, $100, $25 and $5 in order l. to r.

    3) This is not the end of the mystery, though, because the chips glimpsed in the main casino on screen do not resemble any of the CR chips (with the $25s a possible exception). Note the yellow with red (?) pips and the white chips below, and I've seen other weird combinations in the scene also:

Well, I'm not holding my breath for an eight nights of Chanukah box either, now that Bond is proven Catholic (priest's bolt tunnel at Skyfall manse).

I think you'll find the 007Store is lining up a great 3 nights of Hanukkah box! 🤣

I looked at this and wondered where the $5 one came in from, well answered everyone 😁

I of course was disappointed at it not being an advent calendar so bought two, one full and 1 empty box and filled the second one up with my own stuff, so I could have 24 draws to open….so today’s the 20th is the lovely spectre cufflinks from the Bond A box set !!

No comments about the yellow and the white chips in the main salon of Casino Royale? 🤔
