Questions with Craig's Bond

Maybe the next Bond won't be so depressing and gloomy (as Judi Drench described Craig's Bond - although she herself is pretty gloomy compared to previous Ms).

Why was there all the talk about Craig choosing to end his Bond career if he was being killed off in his last Bond film anyway? I don't understand the rationale for killing him off unless Broccoli was actually intending to end the James Bond saga. What's the point of killing him off this one time if they were intending to resurrect him anyway?

At what point will it happen that writers will simply run out of stories to be able to keep the Bond saga continuing, especially if they have to remake the whole Bond universe with each new actor?

By the way, here's an interesting question: since Craig's James Bond was operating in the year 2020, what kind of great operative(s) worked in MI6 back in 1960s or thereafter since no James Bond existed then?

What happened to the 00 department once Bond leaves the service? Are there ongoing Earth shattering cases going on in the world requiring services of other 00 operatives?

Craig doesn't want to be asked for the rest of his life if he'll play Bond again. He and the producers also felt it made sense to have his Bond die since his first Bond movie was an origin story. The producers will absolutely continue making Bond movies, they've been clear on that. Think of the Batman movies. Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney may have played the same Batman with the same life story and memories. A bit like the Bond actors from Connery to Brosnan. Bale had a origin story and a clear ending for his Batman, clearly not being in the same timeline as the previous Batmen .... Batmans (?). This is comparable to Craig. Pattison's Batman isn't a part of the same timeline as the previous incarnations. He has his own timeline, a new version of the Batman legend. That's comparable to the next James Bond actor.

The next James Bond will in my opinion have a new timeline without the same experiences as previous versions of the character.

Except that the next Bond will undoubtedly have an M, Q, Moneypenny, and some other constant features, including the main Bond theme, which always conjures up Sean Connery in my mind when the music is played!

Just like the Pattison Batman has an Alfred and a James Gordon (played, btw, by our own Felix Leiter, Jeffrey Wright).
