Thunderball SPECTRE Ring (007 Museum Copy)
A few years ago I was looking around the internet for a nice early style SPECTRE Number One ring. Nothing was available from SD Studios but I did stumble across a copy offered by the 007 Museum in Sweden. It looked pretty good in the pics so I contacted them, the said they had one to sell me. I asked what their preferred payment method was and they never responded. I recently found one on eBay and immediately bought it and I’m glad I did. It’s a really nice ring with documentation of being 18k solid gold. It’s very heavy at 21g and the quality is what I would expect from a movie prop. Not Tiffany and Co nice but EON studios nice. I could totally see this being a prop prototype of some sort. The ring box is very high quality and the Octopus outer slip is a nice touch. It’s a really fun piece that I would recommend to any Bond collector.
I think the ring is based on the special effects technician Bert Luxford’s ring auctioned by the Prop Store, lots of similarities in construction and design. (See pic in silver, credit photo The Prop Store)
