Rittenhouse relic cards

Hi all, I'm interested in some of these relic cards that have been released over the years.... the concept being it is very desirable to have a piece of an actual item that you can point to in the movies. I have previously obtained a card with piece of Gustav Graves' parachute, and a card with three pieces of "Bond's" clothing from Casino Royale, but have recently come to question whether these are actually screen-seen items, or duplicates which may not appear in the movies.

For example, I saw a card with a piece of Julian Glover's coat from FYEO...but then saw a more recent posting selling the same fully intact coat from Glover's personal collection with apparently a note from the actor. So were there multiple coats? What is on the relic card?

I also saw a relic card containing a piece of program from Octopussy's circus. But then I saw another listing elsewhere selling a complete program. So there were multiples made for sure.

So the point of this question is (and I'm pretty sure I know the answer): Is there any reason to be confident that the items on these relic cards are actually the ones used on screen in the movies...or are they just duplicates and extras of whatever was left over? I'm guessing there is no way to be sure, and it is a bit of both, unless Rittenhouse/EON has clarified this to someone in the past.

Thanks for hearing my question!

Minefield. Originally I thought these were good and wanted one with a bit of R11 seat cloth from AVTAK. Was silly expensive and just thought ‘what’s point’ if many hundreds produced. Very naughty and EON perhaps should do more to endorse if proper.

It’s a mixture. Chances are that the ones you get from the more recent films are screen used as they use multiples when shooting. Evidence of that is the blood stained clothing examples. Beyond that it’s difficult for the production companies to nail down exactly which costume or background prop was seen on screen and which wasn’t when they have 20 - 30 examples of the same costume and so many takes. It’s not even a guarantee that the full costumes sold at auction were screen used unless in some rare cases you can screen match them. The Rittenhouse cards are a good cheaper way of obtaining screen/production used items. You can probably get 500 plus cards made from one car seat at least. Same with a jumper or jacket. So it’s no surprise there will be a few out there. Same with the Octopussy programme. I was an extra on that set as a kid and everyone had a copy. It’s not a con, but you have to be realistic about how many there are.

Was just about to post something similar to what @Asp9mm said.

In the film, you can see other circus attendees holding the programme, just nowhere as many as you'd expect, since these would've likely been handed out at the entrance. While Bond hides his face behind the programme, one member of military personnel sitting behind Bond holds a copy. A couple of others in the audience here and there too, hold a copy. I guess multiple copies of props would also be produced as back-up in case one is damaged, lost, stolen etc. As mentioned, there's really no way of telling if what you have was ever seen on screen, but at least you can say you have something that was 'production made'.

I haven't collected any of these, but they really come in handy when trying to recreate the props - particularly the DAD paperwork, where you can mesh several pieces together in photoshop to make a whole replica.

    Good advice, thanks everyone.

But it didn't stop me from just pulling the trigger on a Max Zorin piece of jacket card from AVTAK lol.

I have spoken with the owner of Rittenhouse, he was friendly and sincere. The subject was actually prop forgeries and he worked with EON directly to provide people with good props through the years . . .

Does anyone have any details on this card?

It suggests that this is a piece of Roger Moore's ski suit from AVTAK - but the wording (or lack of) seems peculiar. Nor does the fabric look to be of a ski suit lol.

I wonder why they wouldn't just say "This is from Roger Moore's jacket" if that's what it is 😅

I'd love a piece of Roger Moore in a bond movie if anyone has any further details, thanks.

Could be that awesome little square backpack he carries an (unbroken!) bottle of vodka in. Another parallel to GF.
