The Liparus Model. (No not that one!)

Guys I was watching TSWLM last night, and a question hit me at the point Bond joins Naomi and Anya, as the latter waxes lyrical about the Liparus display model...

What hppened to all the 'display only' models from the Bond films over the years?

I know set pieces costumes, vehicles and props were saved in the Eon archive, but were display pieces like these saved too?

Other Examples...

Goldfinger's Fort Knox miniature.

Scaramanga's insect collection.

Stomberg's Underwater city miniature.

Moonraker display shuttles and rockets.

Whittickar's Military Soldier Battle Cabinets.

I have prob fogotten a few!

This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

    Hello!

    How are you?

There sure is a large array of Bond props but, as you know it costs money to keep those and they might not have sold pre-2000 or so. Lots of Star Trek sets and props from the original Kirk movies were actually destroyed - it cost to much to keep in storage. I remember seeing how the original Time Machine was wrecked, cars from the tv show UFO and so many more. There's also clothes that don't always sell so well. I was talking to a collector once and he had bought a Chris Reeve original Superman tunique. Reeve was always sweating, he didn't want to send it to the regular cleaning, not something that would fit him. He ended framing it and after a month wouldn't notice it anymore.

There are a lot of things to consider. Most of these things end up in a museum or some very very rich collector who could be a Bond villain and has a giant room dedicated to this stuff.

    You have a nice day!

The Fort Knox miniature is still around and on display... at Fort Knox! I think it's in the gift shop or something.

There's a thread here about the Fort Knox miniature:

Not sure about the Atlantis model but its 2-inch submersibles and boats have popped up for sale in the past. Same with parts from Willard Whyte's scale company map under the floor in his penthouse. Oil rig, rockets, vehicles etc. and a square section of map along the coastline.

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

Plus of course Blair showed us the larger model rocket which Bond contemplates spearing Blofeld with only this week, on auction at Propstore.
