I'm interested to see what Panerai are doing Their last big set of new releases mostly left me a bit cold with a few lovely pieces.

So after a year of mandated overtime because of a tornado that ravaged our city 12 months ago.. ( I spent 30 days straight working 12hr shifts - no days off) followed by mandated overtime for all the anti-police riots & protests.. then mandated pandemic patrols.. etc etc.. it was time to take my kids out of town for a break.. I brought them to Atlanta - a short jaunt from Nashville... We rambled around a few shopping centers.. ( My daughter is almost 14.. shopping had to be part of the trip).. But then there it was.. The Omega store.. I had to duck in.. Was able to the pour over the NTTD watch.. But then consider the option of the SPECTRE NATO strap for my Skyfall PO.. I had to pick it up.. AND. the ridiculously attractive saleslady decided that she'd just gift me this travel case withough charge.. Perfect..

Nice. And thoroughly deserved. Hope things ease off for you a bit going forward mate👍

Likewise. Would love them to make a 38mm watch that was at least 100m WR. Absolutely pathetic putting the Panerai name to a 30m WR watch😤

Pretty sure some of you are following the new releases at Watches and Wonders.

I really like AP ( if they‘re not doing a Code 11.59) but this Black Panther is just wrong - besides that it seems that T’Challa is sh*tting a Tourbillon

Compared to this, the Omega 007 Editions are all on the subtle side 😁

It does look he is sh*tting a Tourbillon as you say...or perhaps he's just working out on one of those inflatable exercise balls. Either way, not the most elegant looking addition to any wrist.

Imo this watch would not exist without Instagram

The update of Tudor's chrono is rather gorgeous I think.

  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent

They deliberately made it strange looking by making the minuterie smaller than necessary and leave that blanc white spot between it and the rehaut.

    Oh you disagree.

  • UNCLE27UNCLE27 EnglandPosts: 1,144MI6 Agent

    I agreed with emtiem.

Right up until Higgins pointed out the white border.

    Now I can’t unsee it...

Still a very nice watch but flawed by that design.

Looks great to me: doesn't need to be a replica of a Daytona to look nice.

Really impressed with the releases by Panerai at W&W. I'm especially interested in the environmentally friendly approach they've taken with the materials they are using, the new submersible Pam01225 is made of 98.6 % recycled materials including the silicon hair spring and lume I'm also pleased to see a return of the bridge guard styled bracelet and am introduction of nylon NATO style straps.

I actually like the H.Moser Mega Cool a lot - hoping that they come out later with a blue dial ( not a fan of green 🤭)

Unfortunately with 42mm, it‘s 2mm too big for my girly wrists 🥺

    That Panerai is very cool.

The Tudor was on my interest list, but apart from that awful white border, there’s something off with that snowflake hand and round indices. The surrounds on which look a bit anaemic. It all looks a bit wrong the more that you look at it.

I quite like the new Tudor Black Bay 58 in Taupe but not sure how the silver case will bear up and how it will tarnish over the years. Adds to the character perhaps but don't like the thought of having to get the Silvo out every 6 months?

Would have loved Panerai to come out with more 38mm models (with proper WR). They're just too big for my wrists currently but I'm a fan of the history.

I know I'll be in a minority on this one but I still like a fair few of the Bremont watches. Everybody has to start from somewhere with regards history, and they're not the first company to exaggerate certain claims. I do also appreciate they're a bit overpriced but fair play to a British company handmaking watches to a nice build quality. The Supermarine S302 ticks a lot of boxes and at 40mm fits my wrists!

We‘re not talking about Brewmont here.

It just gets the idiot excited and he will bore us all to death🤬

Here is the expert opinion about the brand:

    particularly the new movement.

The old manual was just too small!

    Now the QP is interesting!

I honestly don't understand the amount of social media hate for Bremont 🤷 I do wonder that if 2 Swiss guys decided to start up a new watch brand whether the negativity would be so much? Historical back stories aren't everything, I mean Richard Mille hardly has a fascinating history. The whole I hate Bremont because it's set up by a couple of English guys living off trust funds is just a ridiculous statement and has nothing to do with the quality of watches imho

Sorry, that is entirely not the case!

Some years ago, Bremont where caught hands in the honeypot for declaring „inhouse“ movements that where certainly not!

To make things even worse, they came with a more than half-arsed „explanation“ (which was not even an apology) explaining: „ we have been so passionate about us and our product, we didn‘t know the scope of what ‚inhouse‘ really means“.

That‘s the point where the opinion about them changed and it has zero to do with their nationality.

This is the (as usual) very mild and polite sumup in Hodinkee - many have a much stronger opinion about them!

    https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/video-bremont-co-founder-nick-english-responds-to-questions-about-new-movement

I don‘t like them because of their ethics (shown above), their usually inflated pricing and their use of super-tiny movements in oversized pilots watches.

Having said this, Asp9mm may know better - the English brothers obviously come from a well-off family, so Archie‘s „ set up by a couple of English guys living off trust funds“ is not just a ridiculous statement - particularly in context with their shady business ethics.

It seems Tag Heuer managed to avoid long lasting damage when they claimed the seiko movement they used to be their own In house work! The instances are very similar, and pretty much both are down to marketing spiel !

    Classic Whataboutism!

Tag Heuer‘s wrongdoings don‘t make Bremont’s cheating any better

Pulling the „because we are British“ card when a company receives well-deserved loathing for their shady actions seems to be a common reflex.

Bremont totally screwed this up - twice - and they deserve the negativity that is out there.

For what they did and not for what country they are coming from!

They’ve done nothing shady except make a dumb comment 13 years ago. Get over it. Cartier, Brietling and even Rolex have said all their movements are in house over the years when they in fact weren’t.

And they never tried to get around it by saying they are British. That’s just your dumb take on a nonexistent instant.
