@Obi Sean Kenobi That is a great one! I like that Garmentory website as well. Some really interesting finds on there. I'll include this one on the upcoming update for the Matera jacket post (credit to you, of course).
I'm also going to be updating the post on Bond's Jamaica look and have a new 4 Ways to Wear It base around the grey jeans. So in anticipation of that, I've added new options to our Guide to Selvedge Denim.
Here's the link. It looks like the seller is also selling sizes XL and XXL in separate listings. I would ask the seller for measurements. As I recall Dickies's tops can run very large.
Morning all! I've updated the post on Bond's complete NTTD Jamaica look. So alternatives for the shirt, jeans and shoes. The only thing I'm having trouble with is alternatives for the Vuarnets, so any suggestions are welcome!
Yeah those Jamaica Vuarnets are a tricky one, but if anyone is after budget Bond Sunglasses you could do worse than looking at m&m direct, some decent bargains on there.
Hi all! Just a quick FYI that I'm having some technical problems with the site this morning. Working on getting it fixed ASAP. Just in case anyone is checking it and seeing it offline.
Oh you are right! I was looking at both and i accidentally posted the short sleeved one!
I haven't ordered one yet. I found it a few days after i custom made one at Suit Supply to match all the details of the SA one. Unfortunately the linen textile with the matching colour they were offering has now run out and that's why i didn't post that one.
If i have messed up the custom made one from Suit supply i will probably order that Proper Cloth one.
this one from Mango is also a good match. Someone posted a picture of the actual shirt in person and it’s closer to this slightly darker tone. There are a lot of great options on Mango this season.
Product code is 0919291002 color is Dark Taupe. Saw it in person in store and the color in the product photo is pretty accurate. I have a Best Budget Style Finds post coming tomorrow with some other fun finds!
I think the trick with the Safari jacket is to either go all in on the look and treat it like a sport coat or treat it like an M-65 field jacket and try it with more of a workwear look. Matt at Bond Suits does a great job (imho) pulling off the first look. But I couldn't do it. I think if you wore it over a blue chambray utility shirt or a henley with some faded jeans and desert boots, it could look pretty cool. The problem is all the brands style them like the model is walking through a damn piazza in Italy, so it's hard to imagine it being used any other way.
@Bodie thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely check them out for the upcoming Bond summer shirt posts!
I think we can all agree that compared to some other Bond jackets, $300 for the original isn't a bad deal. But there are still some interesting, less expensive options that might be worth consideration.
Great find , I've been searching for the right colour to go with the mauko MA trousers to complete the outfit as I missed out on the connolly , what a great price too , just the job cheers 🍸️
Hi John, don't know if you've missed this out, but Aliexpress offers another Maden waxed jacket that's pretty similar to the RGT one. For only 35$ as the other one you posted
Hi! Yes, that's the one I mentioned at the start of the post. This is another one of those situations where I, personally, don't feel comfortable sharing something that looks like a direct copy of the original. I would've probably included it if it didn't have that white stitching around the keyhole. But it does, and I think of that keyhole as sort of a unique Rogue Territory design detail (although Universal Works uses it as well). It's sort of like that arrow on one of the NTTD watch alternatives. Just a bridge too far for me.
I know I need to figure out a better way of "screening" alternatives, since most of the decisions to include or not include a copy can seem random and sometimes hypocritical (and I mostly make them based on a gut feeling more than anything else). Honestly, more power to anyone that wants something like that; I don't judge. I guess I would feel weird if someone were to ask me if my jacket was the Bond RgT and I had to either lie or try and explain it's a knockoff. But that's just me and I am very aware that some people don't see it the same way. Then there's the fact I've included replicas from Royale and Magnoli which are intentionally made to be direct copies (although to be fair, most of those original jackets, shirts, etc. aren't available anymore). When I did that interview with David a couple of years ago I brought that topic up when we were discussing replicas and how it was challenging for me to write about the Royale SF peacoat replisince the Billy Reid one is still available. So this back and forth is nothing new.
Anyway, I do need to come up with some kind of decision making framework before Daniel releases his version of the Matera jacket, since that's going to be a copy AND the original is still available. Any input from you fine folks here is always welcome!
@canoe2 I'm not sure where this will fall on the copycat spectrum.
A couple years ago Michael Stars came out with an unwaxed cotton-linen version of the supply jacket. I have both the sandstone color, which is lighter than the RgT supply jacket, and the green. It's more of a shirt jacket and much more appropriate for warmer climates than the RgT.
The deadstock shows up on Amazon and Ebay. Pricing and available sizes are always in flux.
In my opinion, and I may be in a minority here, you should include all options that are available - the original (if still available), replicas, 'knock-offs', closest match.
I think then people can make up their own mind which item to go for. As long as they're informed of all the facts (which you always do brilliantly), it's up to them which one they choose. I love your site and personally if searching for an impossible to find grail piece the closest to it was a company that had produced a replica or knock-off, I would like to be aware of it and would like to see it shown in the options you suggest. I'm not saying I would go for it but the comparison is interesting.
It's a bit paradoxical really as if a company (with no official links to the franchise or heritage) produces an item in the right spirit and enthusiasm of a Bond clothing item, perhaps one no longer available, it is lauded, praised and met largely with positivity. However, if a company produces an item extremely similar to one currently available but not making any reference to Bond, they are seen as knock-offs. I do agree wholeheartedly that the examples we've seen of the NTTD watch with broadarrow and the jacket with RGT style buttonhole are blatant 'copies' and I would personally never buy something which copies completely another company's design or IP. But it is still interesting to see all options available, from original to (legal) copy.
I say show all options available but include your opinion (it's your site and people are interested in and value your opinion), then they can make up their own minds.

While prowling around ebay I noticed:
Dickie Commando Jumper large £10
Ebay item reference 224425169561
Looks like it might be a budget alternative for the NTTD commando jumper
Here's the link. It looks like the seller is also selling sizes XL and XXL in separate listings. I would ask the seller for measurements. As I recall Dickies's tops can run very large.

Still working away at the next 4 ways to wear it post, but I hope to have it by tomorrow. Cheers and have a great weekend!
Yeah those Jamaica Vuarnets are a tricky one, but if anyone is after budget Bond Sunglasses you could do worse than looking at m&m direct, some decent bargains on there.
Casino royale, Skyfall and spectre anyone ?
I'll try those pics again 🙄
Magnoli did a lovely alternative for the glasses. If they are still available I would thoroughly recommend!
Thanks guys! Can't believe I forgot to check Magnoli. I'll include some of those in an upcoming post with the appropriate credits!
New post! 4 Ways to Wear Bond's grey jeans
This is actually a 5 Ways to Wear It, since I used affordable alternatives to recreate Bond's NTTD look in addition to 4 new outfits.
Cheers!
John

Sorry about that!

Morning all!
I've updated the post on alternatives for the Connolly Matera jacket:
@Obi Sean Kenobi thanks again for the Universal Works suggestion!
Cheers!
Found this shirt from Proper Cloth which looks like a decent alternative to the Finamore one from Conollly.
https://propercloth.com/dress-shirts/baird-mcnutt-natural-beige-irish-linen-354250.html
It is 100% linen but i think that the color looks really close.
That shirt looks a great find! Did you order one? Also there is a long sleeve version on the site, I’m not sure if you meant to post that one.
Oh you are right! I was looking at both and i accidentally posted the short sleeved one!

@Agent Eternal great option!
That Mango one also looks good. I shared it in a previous post on the site, but I'll share it again in the upcoming Bond summer shirts post.
And if anyone is looking for a cheap Cucinelli SP blazer alternative, this one from H&M is a good color match and is only $70
Product code is 0919291002 color is Dark Taupe. Saw it in person in store and the color in the product photo is pretty accurate. I have a Best Budget Style Finds post coming tomorrow with some other fun finds!

Hi All! Latest Best Budget Style Finds post is up!
Cheers!
John
Great stuff! Love a safari jacket, still wondering if I could pull it off :D
I liked the safari jacket as well but have to be honest and admit the only person who could pull one off was Rog.
Marks & Spencer have some good Thunderball budget alternatives:
Navy blue linen revere shirt. Similiar to the Lucky Brand. Price £25
Easy Iron Linen Stripe Shirt £25. Stripe broader than the Onica Vacation shirt.
Blue Harbour pure cotton stripe shirt £29.50. Stripe thinner than the Onica Vacation shirt
I think the trick with the Safari jacket is to either go all in on the look and treat it like a sport coat or treat it like an M-65 field jacket and try it with more of a workwear look. Noticed on ebay the is faux suede Hackett jacket which looks like it might be a good budget alternative for the Spectre Morocco jacket. Size medium
Ebay reference 114790296541
5 bids so far. Price is at £10.50 if anyone is interested in having a bid.
