Post update: back to where it all began. This was the 2nd post I wrote for IA long ago in Nov 2015. Crazy to think it's been almost 6 years! Anyway, new alternatives for the QoS cardigan.
Re-opening an old topic since Autumn/ Fall and Winter are fast approaching: did anyone ever discover a decent alternative to the Tom Ford SPECTRE Solden ski pants?
I appreciate we had some good suggestions for FCUK at the time, however no real developments since.
I got the black one back in late Feb/early March and then got the ivory one shortly after because it went on sale. They're pretty solid. I broke out the ivory one today for the first day of fall. My brother got the grey one recently as well.
As far as sizing goes I'd say they're forgiving. I'm 5'7", 36" chest, and 31" waist and I took a small. The shoulder seams are past my shoulders, but due to the type of knit it isn't obvious. I folded the cuffs once and that took care of the sleeves. My brother is 5'5", 40" chest, not sure on his waist, but bigger than mine. He took a small too. The shoulders fit properly, although the sleeves are long on him even with one fold.
One other frugal alternative I'd like to add is for the R&B henley. I got this on sale from J. Crew recently. The dusty ivory color has a bit more tan/brown to it than the R&B. The R&B, at least online, looks like it's a bit more white than this one. I took the classic fit in a small. It's TTS for me. It fit slimmer than I expected which I like.
@Westward_Drift all us Bond Instagram accounts start to look alike after a while .... 😁
@RonBerry those SPECTRE pants aren't really on my radar, but I can definitely keep an eye open for some! One way to go: look for vintage German or Austrian ski pants on ebay, etsy, etc. Or vintage 1960s/70s ski pants from European brands. I've seen a few that come close and they aren't crazy expensive.
@saross029 Great to hear you like that Simon's cardigan! I had hopes for that one! And thanks for the suggestion on the J.Crew Henley. I'll make sure to include it in the post update with credit to you.
New (non-Bond) post: needed a quick breather from all the NTTD stuff and some time to explore options for a cool jacket (or at least I think it's a cool jacket 😎):
Okay, as far as I know, we still haven't identified the maker of the Matera one. But I have a strong suspicion that it comes from Anderson & Sheppard. I go into more details in the post (as well as one problem with the theory). But I'll share some comparison photos here for you to decide:
A&S make a short sleeve knit linen Henley and the style comes very close:
Especially the placket design and the texture of the material
The problem is they only make the short sleeve in shades of blue (the cream one above is the long sleeve version). As I said, I address this problem in the post. And I'm waiting on confirmation from A&S if they were in fact the maker. So until we know 100% take all this with a grain of salt. It's still only speculation on my part. But it looks good.
And if by some chance I've missed someone else identifying the brand, please let me know so I can give you credit in the post! I really did search around to see if anyone else had called it before this.
wow good eye and work, except for the long sleeves all the details seems to match, especially the fabric is spot on and Anderson & Sheppard’s would make perfect sense as a brand. Is somebody in contact with them to ask wether they provide this shirt?
The strongest evidence that it is Anderson & Sheppard is that the short sleeve henley costs £215.00! Maybe they made a white version a hundred years ago when this movie was being filmed.
Happy Sunday! I've updated the post on the RgT jacket with new options. And I've included alternatives for the white OB tee. Surprisingly, there are a couple under $10/10GBP that will definitely get the job done! And our friend @tshold is making a very nice SIS Training Gear option.
Morning gang! I assumed that many of you may be busy today with other distractions. So today's post is an oldie but a goody for those of us who still have to wait a bit to see the film.
Just a heads up: I'll be sharing new articles here and on IG, FB, etc. But I won't be engaging much until I see the film myself to avoid encountering spoilers. Sort of a post and dash strategy. Sorry, don't want to appear rude but I hope you can understand.
Cheers everyone and for those of you who are part of the festivities I hope you're having the time of your lives!
For those of you in the U.S., great deal on a SP cable roll neck sweater alternative: $34.99 at EXPRESS
Poly/acrylic/wool blend. Still have sizes small to XL in stock (edit: sorry I'm having problems posting the link, so here is a photo and the link is below)
And that Express option I shared yesterday is now down to $15!! Which is a hell of a deal (original price was $88). Great if you need a back-up (for example: when you want to dress like Bond while eating spaghetti 😁).
Cheers!
John
Update: It looks like Express has updated the product page in the last hour or so. Their sweater is back to the original sale price of $34.99. Still not a bad deal though.
Quick post today. I posted photos from the NY Times interview Craig did and had people on IG write me asking about the Tom Ford suede trucker jacket he wore. So I went on the hunt. Also an alternative for the blue Anderson & Sheppard Henley he wears with it.
The Rag & Bone Henley is on sale as most of you knew. But if you haven’t bought anything from them yet, you can sign up for texts and they send you a code for another 20% off!
That’s $90 for the screen accurate Henley Bond uses in NTTD, on top of that, FREE SHIPPING!
This is a totally subjective and completely biased list, so I have no doubt many of you won't agree with all my choices. But hey! That's what makes all of this so fun! 😁 Also, I haven't seen the film yet (going on Wednesday), so please, please NO SPOILERS in this thread! Enjoy your Sunday, gang!
Question for the email some of us may have received if we contacted Daniel Love from Royale Filmwear on the Shanghai Peacoat coming soon.
What can anyone say about the last version sold? Anyone with the Billy Reid Peacoat that can vouch for accuracy and/or closeness to materials? What of the fit?
I’ve saved up to buy it, but I want to make sure I’m getting a good quality Peacoat that is cheaper than the Billy Reid but understandably close to it.
For anyone looking for a frugal version of the NTTD Connerlly Shirt, I found this in Ralph Lauren outlet in the UK. It’s called a dress shirt lux a very reasonable £95 less discount 😄
It’s not linen but a nice weave and luxury cloth
cheers 😎
Label for anyone interested
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!
Dan is a perfectionist and a collector same as the rest of us here. He has been nice enough to share his work with many on this site. Quality gear and a reasonable price, you should have no concerns there.
Cheers 😎

Today's and Thursday's posts are sort of palate cleansers before I dive back into the NTTD content this weekend.
Cheers!

@canoe2 There is also the wool cardigan from Spier and Mackay. The Black and Heather Cream aren't in stock yet but there is a notification list.
I am not sure who first mentioned them on Instagram. Regardless, credit goes to that person.
Thanks! I actually shared those on IG the day they launched and they sold out in 24 hours! I'll keep an eye out in case they do a restock.
Cheers!
Well there you go, LOL.

Hi there. The fcuk ones are ok but unlikely to get now. Royale do some https://royalefilmwear.storenvy.com/products/25134789-stirrup-ski-trousers
Just want to say that the shawl collar cardigan at Simons in @canoe2 's post is a solid option. https://www.simons.com/en/men-clothing/sweaters-cardigans/cotton/organic-cotton-shawl-collar-ribbed-cardigan--7107-203514?catId=6724&colourId=16

Quick hit: affordable alternative for Daniel Craig's NTTD red carpet dinner jacket
De Best Fit custom magenta pink double breasted velvet suit on sale for $399! Since it's custom, you can probably ask them to change the buttons.
😁
Anybody know which designer did the real jacket?
Anderson and Sheppard I believe
And apparently he was wearing this gold Omega:
(A snip at £28K! 😁 )
@emtiem Craig was all about the bling last night!
For those of you in the U.S., great deal on a SP cable roll neck sweater alternative: $34.99 at EXPRESS

Dang, that is a nice jacket. I tend to agree with you though that I prefer the Banana Republic one in some ways!
BR has really stepped up their game this season. Nice to see a mid tier brand putting out some cool pieces.

You’re right as hell I bought one
Thanks for the tip @Chico !

@Bond44 That looks great, nice score!
@Chico ditto on everything others have said about Dan and ROYALE. He really does care about the details and quality. So two thumbs up
