It went back and forth, but I believe the general consensus was these particular jeans had the cotton composition that tended to stretch out so they were either slim and just stretched out a bit after filming in the heat for hrs/days on end as naturally jeans would. Or they were straight fit tailored down. Either way I thought they were the exact same jeans so why not get what would fit us best just like DC did. Also having TF denim, their inseams are usually super long so going to need to tailor that at least anyway regardless.

    Hey OSK,

    How do you know this?

    Or are you just guessing?

    please clarify

  • CommandantCommandant Posts: 1,374MI6 Agent

I'm not sure the Jamaica Jeans is the slim fit version.

I tried both and the slim fit is really really tight.

TF told me the jeans was the straight model

Here are a few new shots I got today. Hope these provide some additional clarity.

"History isn't kind to men who play God." - DC "I gave him the limp." - PB "Better make that two." - TD

"Keeping British end up, sir." - RM "This never happened to the other fellow." - JL "I must be dreaming." SC

Yeah. I really doubt it was the slim cut. Craig's calf muscles are way too large to fit into those without them being obviously tight. Not even kidding. I've only got moderate calf muscle and mine are squeezed. Craig's legs are built like tree trunks.

Also, great shots, Tullock! Did you notice stitching color on the pockets? Can't make it out.

I have some TF slim selvedge denim (not the Jamaica pair). I would tend to agree with this. Mine actually arent as slim as some TF I’ve seen with measurements etc. but that cut happened to fit me best so I went with slim. I think they may vary from season to season composition etc. I’ve seen some of their slim cuts have a 6” leg opening which is very slim. I think mine might be a full inch larger than that maybe even more.

If you are spending that kinda money on the Jamaica jeans as long as both cuts are SA aesthetically, get what fits you best. Wouldnt be any fun to get the cut DC happened to choose (bc thats what fit him best personally) if that means they arent then wearable.

It appeared to me like the only stitching was around the pockets like any traditional jean would have, but a yellowish/goldish color. I didn’t see any detail stitching on the pockets themselves. Look pretty plain, if that makes sense.

  • The inside tag of the screen worn grey tf jeans says "slim". They went up a size that's why they are a little sloppy around the waist. And when you go up a size everything gets bigger, even the leg width. Straight and slim were both provided, but they ended up choosing slim.

As far as the NTTD garage jeans are concerned...your guess is as good as mine.

  • frommeyerfrommeyer ChicagoPosts: 418MI6 Agent

Huh. Interesting. What's the source on that? Like Commandant, I was told by TF that the SA was straight.

  • jared_nomakjared_nomak Posts: 1,944MI6 Agent

The TF jeans were straight not slim.

also the garage scene jeans are not TF.

This is one of those conversations that makes me nervous for people. Tom F hates any man who has even thought about thinking about leg day. The calves certainly do not get bigger when sizing up unless you jump multiple sizes and there really is no give over time in these.

This is really one of those points where unless you are a collector in the true sense, you will never wear the jeans and hope to exhibit or profit from that one day, then the only correct answer is to wear the style that suits your body. These are really expensive luxury items - I implore people to not look crap in them for the sake of SA when it's simply a choice between two cuts - especially given TF straight is probably SA and are like skinny/slim in other brands anyway. You will look more SA, and better generally, in the pair that suits you.

  • If anyone thinks these jeans look like a straight fit, then they need to get their eyes examined.

I will admit however, I don't know a lot about tom ford cuts.

But one thing I'm tired of hearing about is how "massive Craig's legs are".

Maybe over a decade ago in his Casino Royale days. But look at picture 3.

In the words of Joe Biden "Come on, man!"

Tom Fords Jean cuts are slim as it is both slim is like a standard skinny and straight is like a standard slim in most other makes.

I would suggest the cut has a lot to do with it

I get wanting to know which one is SA but aren’t they are both the EXACT same jeans? No difference whatsoever, not a different color label or patch etc., just one happens to fit Craig better than the other. If you’re paying 800 for jeans why would you not just get what fits YOU best? The only difference is the the tag inside the pants that says slim or straight. I understand one has more narrow legs but there is literally zero way to find out which he wore if they took both cuts from TF for him to try. Regardless of which was worn they were tailored to fit him. I get the search and wanting to know the fit he wore but if Im spending close to a grand on jeans, you better believe Im getting what I can actually wear and what fits me best.

I think the discussion of which fit comes down to 2 things:

-no all TF slim fits are created equal. Some have a 6 inch leg opening which is far closer to skinny/slim & some slim fits are more of a 7 or 7.5 leg opening which sounds little but actually does make a diff as they end up fitting more like a taper/slim while both being called “slim”

-as with literally everything worn in Bond movies, this as tailored, just like TF does when you go to buy jeans directly from them. So straight would be tailored down to his exact legs or slim was worn. No way to know. Just buy what works for you.

    Amen.

And nota bene: my purchased new Tom Ford grey jeans have ripped twice in less than a year. Once along the back pockets (I had to have them repaired). And now again at the crotch (not sure they're worth repairing twice). Mine are not tight-wearing jeans and I've hardly been running and jumping like Bond in them. They're simply made of inferior denim. I bought that at half price and still paid too much.

Don't wear £700 jeggings trying to be SA.

The belly is massive too 🤣

    "I'm a little teapot..."

  • I have 2 pair of tf jeans in size 32. I have the BPJ26 which is the original run and code of the ones used in the film. I have 1 pair in slim fit, and 1 pair in straight. They both have 7 inch leg openings, and the rest of the fit and measurements are the same. The only difference is that the slim fit fit a little larger in the waist area (go figure).

I think the moral of the story is that there is very little consistency in tf jeans. I've seen pictures where the straight fit look massive and pictures where the slim fit look like panty hose and other pictures where both fits look the same. My conclusion is that the guy at the factory responsible for slapping the slim and straight tags on the jeans is drunk most of the time.

  • Okay. This is an educational moment. Daniel Craig is fit but far from massive. Anyone who thinks he's massive has probably never met him.

These are Kate Middleton's stats: Height 5'9 / Weight 130 lbs.

I own the TF Jeans in a 32 waist in the Slim version and they were quite baggy, I had to get them tailored down and taper them throughout the whole leg to make them look slim/screen accurate (not skinny). And I'd say I have normal legs, not particulary thin, but certainly not very muscular. I've seen pictures of a Bond Instagrammer who owns the same jeans in the same size and is not that far off my own body type and he told me the only thing he did to them was to hem them, not to taper them in any way and on him they look almost like a real skinny fit. So I second the drunken guy at the factory theory.

Tailored down to my liking its a very nice pair of Jeans though, I wear them regularly during the winter and the summer and even got some compliments for them.

Despite my arguing that they're straight cut, I'll buy the drunk at the factory theory. I have five pairs of the jeans 32 (x2), 33, 34 (x2). And they all fit basically exactly the same sans a little more or less at the calf.

    Slim fit 🤔

  • SevenDSevenD Posts: 97MI6 Agent

Maybe they used both pants in different settings. Like the more relaxed straight one in this scene above and the slim version on the boat? 🤔

could be, in the same way they have used multiple sizes of the BR pea coat, other topcoats etc etc for filming or hero shot marketing images, trailers.

Ha ha I remember those photos when they came out. Somehow in the Jamaica shower scene the belly seems to have disappeared. Not sure why they made the T-shirt so short.

    Yes. Considerably!

Commandant, it's interesting you posted that picture. I remember seeing that photo before the movie came out, and thought those are very baggy, and no way slim. I just saw the movie a couple days ago, and when you see that scene with him standing there, the jeans are miraculously slimmer and more tapered. I've only seen the film once, but try to pay close attention when the camera pans off with Bond standing there, I'm almost positive they looked way tighter.

Maybe someone here can grab a screen shot who sees the film soon.

  • Those are very obviously not the same pair of jeans.

Wear whatever suits you best, but word of advice...

the sloppy fit hasn't been in style since the 90s.
