I bought a size 52 off RealReal but returned it due to a hole in the sleeve. All good since I used the funds for the JV Martian jacket a few weeks later.
Hey guys im kind of new to buying from ebay and would like.to ask, if i lose a bid with a person - is it possible that after they win - i can dm them or contact them to offer them a price to buy the product they just won? Maybe by asking the seller to get me in touch with the winner ? I really wanted something and lost by a dollar to someone - for the last 5 days been monitoring and 0 bids - i was the only person to bid until the last 5 seconds , and by the time i wanted to counter offer i had ran out of time.
Hart, I suppose it depends on the seller and whether they are willing to divulge the buyers details. I’ve not done it myself but would probably try this if I wanted the item enough. They can only say no!
I know with some items I’ve bid on before and just missed out on, if there were multiple copies, the seller contacted me as a potential buyer who just missed out and offered me to purchase.
Japanese proverb say, "Bird never make nest in bare tree".
Personally I would advise against doing such a thing as the buyer and seller are in legally binding contracts to sell/buy the item. What you could do is if contact the seller and let them know that if the buyer backs out to contact you so you may buy the item. Another thing I would recommend you doing is bidding as high as you can and as close to the end of the auction. I usually start watching an auction when there is 1 minute left and will usually make a bid within the last 15 to 20 seconds and I also stay on the bidding screen which saves me a few seconds to make a counter bid if need be!
Sniping’s another good strategy (probably hated by soooo many on the receiving end)—waiting till there’s less than 5 secs left on the bidding and then entering the maximum amount you’re willing to pay for the item. Generally you’re not paying much more than the current highest bid in the end.
Regarding the whole contacting the seller to get the winning bidder’s details, I would certainly agree with Mike and advise against it. The seller should definitely not be giving another member the winning bidder’s details under any circumstances (I believe it’s against eBay policy as well). If I was contacted by some random person who got my details from the seller of an item I won, I would be reporting both people…
I wouldn’t recommend that, they’re not likely to give out the winners details as that causes all sorts of problems. Sometimes it’s easier just to accept you haven’t won it and keep your eye out if it gets resisted , maybe ask the seller to contact you if the buyer backs out
It was a little tricky, and I had to change shippers twice, but other than that, the site is great, and the customer service was superb! Thanks, again, for the heads-up! I've been hunting for one of these for years!
Blair, congrats on your purchase- what was the situation with customs/excise on buying from Japan and the cost with the shipping service? Would all of that be something prohibitively expensive for any nominal saving purchase to the UK? Cheers.

The shipping was all arrange through the auction site- although the initial shipper, UPS, caused a hiccup in the system, so I switched to DHL, again, via the auction site. I had to pay around £400 in total for the jacket, including shipping and taxes coming into the UK.

Wow! Congratulations! Great fit too. How did you figure out the logistics?
EDIT: I just saw the end list price, too. You basically got away with a highway robbery on this one.

I just looked at the exchange rate. An even better bargain than originally thought! I hadn't realized the Yen had dropped that much.
I'm curious, did you manage to work shipping out with the seller or use a Japan based proxy?
Group buy anyone?!
