Well @Smithers500 thanks for the confidence you gave me. I've simply given my opinion on some factual specs that can be seen on the cap, then I'm still waiting for confirmation from Paul e Shark.
Honestly don't know why the removed the logo, but I suspect from product placement issues or maybe because we know the brands Bond wears but they aren't featured that much except for publicity agreements (e.g. Omega, Brioni...)
The brand itself is not rubbish. Much appreciated by sportsmen and those who like yachting. For example, Roberto Mancini the Italian coach is one of their spokesperson
I think that last pun was a crown-ing acheivement. But now that you've all fin-ished filling us to the brim with your wit, I thought I'd share that the Paul & Shark cap is on sale at Michael Stewart for $62.36/55.96 GBP. So it won't take quite as big a bite out of your wallet.
Edit: still can't post a link! I think our overlords here are on to me! 😁 Just go to the Michael Stewart site and search for Paul and Shark baseball cap.
Thanks John. Since we still don't know the brand and I'm still waiting for a confirmation from P&S to know if they provided something, this is by far the closest match I've found, especially give the front logo.
I sincerely hope it does turn out to be the one.
And yes, it may have suffered some serious distress through tropical weather!
The one thing throwing me off on this one being his cap is it seems like the adjustable band on the back of the cap was wider in the movie than this one.
That's okay. The twists and turns of this thread have PUNished us all.
Also, just because Paul & Shark didn't provide hats doesn't mean the costume department didn't use them, unless you mean the company confirmed the hat wasn't theirs. Recall that in Spectre the blue John Varvatos jacket was just bought in the London store. The company had no idea their jacket was in the film until after it was IDed by the fans.
Hopefully Suttirat will be able to confirm at some point, perhaps when she compiles her master list.
She did say it was nothing special or expensive though and the fact she couldn't remember the name at all, might mean it really is something very basic and obscure, just picked up locally or something? I don't know, but I think a brand like Paul & Shark might be more memorable to her and is actually quite a respected brand and certainly not inexpensive.
"I actually identified the hat last week but haven't made it public knowledge. Don't ask me how I figured it out before the high definition pics, but they certainly confirmed it."
Obviously they took the logo off the front and colour washed it to match the Barbour in post production. This was supposed to be Heineken's centrepiece product placement but they had to abandon the plan after Craig kept switching it for Carlsberg and singing You'll Never Walk Alone.

Paul’s alright but his business partner can be a right man eater…

Paul & Shark is cheaper than Burberry, but over $100 for a baseball cap is still ridiculous.
You’re welcome Mattia - keep up the great work!
I only paid about £40 for mine off eBay - worth taking a punt for that!
Cheers, tru and do my best!
Yes indeed, especially if it turns out to be the right one.
Now I'd like to hear from @MrE if he found out something...
Took the ball he didn’t bring to begin with and went home?
Truth. Better be some amazing materials + construction.
You may all be jumping the shark there 🤣
That's an a-Paul-ing pun, Asp9mm 😎
I was just fishing for a comment like that and capping off the discussion.

Oh, and thanks to @Mattia De Varti for the cap suggestion!
If that's the cap, Bond's been through some serious weathering/distressing. Those Caribbean hurricanes, maybe...

Thought occurred to me as well, maybe it was modified by costume department?
I had even seen some older models with a wider strap, though can't find the images anymore
Very possible. Judging by the Jed North shorts there's no extreme they won't resort to lol.
Did some digging. Unfortunately, paul and shark did not provide any hats to the NTTD costume crew.
They used a cheap, inexpensive hat, paul and shark does not fit the bill...oh, my, I dropped a pun too...
that one was not intended.

Can I ask if you managed to contact them to state this, because I've tried in any way but had no luck. You reached their CS?
How can you be so sure it 'doesn't fit the bill'? Have you found better alternatives?
And then @Westward_Drift is right, they could have purchased it not in store, even Ebay or second hand stores for what we know...

Not to put Mr E back in the crosshairs, but in the shorts thread on Nov 12:

"I actually identified the hat last week but haven't made it public knowledge. Don't ask me how I figured it out before the high definition pics, but they certainly confirmed it."
Who's "they"?
My reading of this quote is that the high definition pics confirm his identification (that was never made public knowledge then or since).
I have it on good authority this is the hat.

FACT! 😁😁😁
Are those the screen accurate Vuarnets? I thought the temples were slimmer ...
I think they're the mystery ones he chews from the BTS Norway shot! 😁😉
😆 More Kop than cap then!
Yep. That's the Norway shirt too.
Are there annual awards to vote for this in?! 👏😁
It looks like the PS cap exists in different fabrics (velvet or shinny effect)
Which one is the correct one ?
Neither.
